SCEA at Harvard of ED at Princeton

Hey everyone. I'm having a bit of a dilema right now. I'm trying to decide whether to apply scea at Harvard or ED at Princeton. The main reason why I can't decide is that I've heard some bad things about Harvard students being anti-social, cutthroat, etc. but I've also heard some bad things about Princeton students being preppy, snobbish, and partying nonstop. Basically, I want to go to a school with an excellent reputation, a closeknit student body, friendly students, and a good social scene (not nonstop partying though). If anyone would like to offer some advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

If you're really thinking about applying to these schools, you should at least be able to look past stereotypes. ;)

you should probably put these stereotypes to the test by visiting each place when school's in session. i think you'll find most faulty.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to visit Harvard in October, and I truly do hope I find that the stereotypes are false.

If you even asking whether you should apply ED or not, go the non-binding way.

This is correct.

^ Agreed. ED is for those who truly love one school so much and have done enough research into it that they're certain they're not going to even look at other schools.

Or, from a cynic's perspective, for those who want a admissions boost.

That's what the "Early Admissions Game" establishes beyond a doubt.

ED applicants are admitted at a rate equal to RD applicants with SAT scores up to 150 points higher. Colleges denying this fact aren't telling the truth.

If this were not so, there would be little point in applying ED anywhere; the process, otherwise, is heavily canted in favor of the college, which gets to "lock in" students of whom a sizeable fraction might go elsewhere given the opportunity.

A Faustean bargain.

at harvard the community is one of the best things you have, other than the usual anti-social beings that are there everyewhere, harvard is a really friendly and socially active place
