<p>South Asian female
Small public school in KS, hardly any AP's offered, we have one kid every couple of years going to a top-20 school.</p>

<p>Stats-----</p>

<p>PSAT: 232
ACT composite: 35
SAT IIs: 800 Math Level 2, 790 Chem, 740 Lit
haven't taken the SAT yet but will in Oct...hoping for 2200+</p>

<p>AP scores:
Chem - 5
Calc BC - 4
Eng. Lang. - 4</p>

<p>GPA: 4.0 unweighted, 4.1-ish weighted
Class Rank: 1 / 161</p>

<p>I have kinda crappy ECs:</p>

<p>-Student Government: Senior class Treasurer
-Key Club President, member since ninth
-Spanish Club VP, member since ninth
-Math Club VP in 10th and 11th, Pres in 12th
-a founding member of our region's Interact Club, and head of its Financial committee
-a founding member of our school's Green Society
-National Honor Society
-Varsity Scholars' Bowl (academic competition), Capt. in 11th and 12th
-JV tennis in 9th, Varsity tennis in 10th</p>

<p>Community Service:
-volunteering at hospital, library, and Salvation Army
-other stuff through Key Club, Interact, and NHS
-Teen Court
-around 300 hrs. of comm. service total</p>

<p>Awards:
-AMC 10, 12 School Winner (not AIME qualifier though...missed it by a couple of points :()
-Nat'l Merit Semifinalist
-Nat'l Spanish Exam 3rd place state
-Nat'l Chem. Olympiad Regional winner
-AP Scholar</p>

<p>Other:
-currently doing research in biochem. at local university
-did a research project last summer in nanotechnology
-went to summer program @ MIT this summer
-employed at a local supermarket since June</p>

<p>Recs:
-one from my AP English teacher...this one will be okay...I've only known her for a year, but my old English teacher retired and my other humanities teachers suck at writing
-one from the professor I'm doing biochem. research with, who practically idolizes me :D
-supplementary one from the staff of the summer program at MIT, should be very strong</p>

<p>My essays should be decent at least.</p>

<p>This makes you a clear candidate already. Although it shouldn't be this way, it is.</p>

<p>The further unfortunate case is that there were several people I know in real life with better stats (and much, much better EC's) that were rejected from Stanford last year.</p>
