I would really love to hear about that you think my chances are of being accepted. My essays are just about completed, but if anyone has last minute topic suggestions to focus on my strengths, I would be forever indebted.

I hate to bump my thread, but does anyone have any insight? I am fairly lost in what exactly I am doing in terms of early action apps. Hoping someone can rationalize my chances and help me decide soon. Thanks.

Umm I think your chances arent great because of your low standardized tests
you also have with school extra currics but a bunch of ocmmunity service
your app doesnt seem very focused, i guess your essay should be about community service
i would think youd be an average applicant

according to my yale admissions director, the 50% for sat's were 730 for both math and verbal... so i just didn't think mine were considered "low" as in in the bottom 25% of the applicant pool. but i def think standardized tests are a weakness... although i doubt that they are the best representation of an applicant's intelligence. that's why my high gpa in the hardest courses at a top public school in NJ slightly outweigh the SAT score... but i'd be open to other people's opinions

I agree, you're qualified, your scores are a little low, and it doesn't help that you're a white male, but if you can really sell yourself you have a shot.

Yayyy go Princeton-area high schools!

We have underprivileged children around here?!

I work with homeless kids that stay at the motel on Route 1... and a few from Trenton. So, yes there are underprivileged children.

I'd have to agree with spydertennis on the scores. Although you'd fit in the middle in terms of scores, as a white male, to have a definite chance, you need to be higher up in the pool. This is unless of course you have a special hook, i.e. legacy status, being a recruited athlete. However, your community service sounds great, and could make for an excellent hook. Give it a shot.

a princeton kid. doesn't it stink to be from the princeton area when it comes to college stuff. where do you go to school

yeah, it's really stressful being from around princeton... i go to ww-p district, the better of the two (almost everyone from mercer/southern middlesex county knows exactly what i am talking about)
