Other?
- Applied for the 4-year ROTC scholarship... I have no idea if this has any bearing over admissions. Princeton was my number 2 under school preferences.

Recs: Hopefully really stellar. I have 2 required recommendations. Another teacher wrote me one "just in case" I needed it.

Chances?
I have no idea if I have a realistic shot at Princeton SCEA... I'm wondering if I should apply elsewhere.
Advice? Suggestions?

Thanks!

Good stats. You have a shot. Remember, not all 27,000 applicants will have good gpa, scores, and ec’s. You will obviously be considered for admission. Just do your essays, rock them out, and you are in. Lol.

and yes, apply to more schools. I really can’t tell you what schools to consider because we are two different people with two different tastes. Lol. But then again, we both want Princeton!! (; So look at UChicago, Stanford, Northwestern, and the other ivies. Don’t settle for one or two schools. Good Luck!!

Thanks for the reply!

I was just thinking that with my lower than amazing GPA/SAT/SATII scores, I might consider an alternative school.
I think my hooks/awards are pretty good - I will also be sending in a classical recording as well as my research paper as a supplement.

At the same time, I’m apprehensive about applying to Princeton.
I’ve been thinking maybe ED to Columbia or Dartmouth (have legacy at both schools) to increase my chances… but I really want Princeton or Stanford.

Not sure what to do.

Good luck to you!

EA Princeton. Would you rather risk not getting in compared to Columbia or would you rather live knowing that you didn’t even apply EA to the school of your dreams. You can always apply RD to the others because EA at princeton isn’t binding.

Your stats are fantastic and your EC’s are super strong. You have a GREAT shot. Make your application fantastic!

I think you have a good chance getting into Princeton SCEA, and I mean that, but objectively (SAT II and/or GPA/rigor-wise) you might be a little bit below the radar. Assuming that no one else has similar science extracurriculars and stats as you, that might be fine, but I’m worried that a lot of other students like yourself, with better stats that go to feeder school, are applying SCEA to Princeton. Would you consider EAing to Stanford or Yale instead? In addition, I’m envious of your Columbia/Dartmouth legacy. Keep in mind that legacy has no bearing in RD. So, Columbia, which has an amazing if not better engineering/science department, would still be a very viable option for you. However, if Princeton is your first choice, go for it, but understand that they place utmost emphasis on SATs, SAT IIs, and APs, as well as GPA and course rigor, before anything else.

Also, I’m assuming Princeton is #2 and Stanford is #1 for ROTC? Go with Stanford REA. It won’t be as competitive as years’ past with Harvard/Princeton SCEA.

I agree with decillion; apply Stanford REA. Plus, I think Stanford is really into musicians (I know a few people who got with great music experience), and being a violist is a pretty big hook.

Thanks for your replies/advice!

The only thing that’s really holding me back from applying EA to Stanford is the fact that I’m unable to send in any supplements. I can’t send in a resume with extra information or a science paper. Also, the deadline to receive a music cd (the art supplement) has also passed for early action. Considering no one from my school has ever attempted and thus never admitted to Stanford, I’m slightly weary of applying for early.

With Princeton, the limiting factors are my GPA/SAT scores.
I’ve thought of applying to Yale, but many kids are applying for EA in my school while no one is applying to Princeton.

Well, I hope for the best. Good luck!

Well, I can tell you for sure that the admit rate for EA is > ED at Stanford, and it’s backed up by data. As for Princeton, you never know how it is this year. So with your credentials, I would go with Stanford EA. Also, can’t you add an extra resume to the Common Application?

Oh, and the respectful deadline for the Arts Supplement for Princeton has also passed; it was better to send it by October 15th. So that shouldn’t really affect your decision. Good luck!

Definitely a good shot

Need to go study for my princeton midterms lolz.
