Also, i am starting a tutoring club at school, and my parents are deciding to start a company selling math practice books from overseas.
In addition, i was born in china, then moved to singapore and lived there for 7 years, and moved to the US when i was 9. I can speak 3 languages, including mandarin and English (both fluently) and learning Spanish in School.

What are my chances if i apply SCEA to Harvard, or if i apply RD?
Thanks

You're Asian then, yes? Ethnically?

Because basically, you're worse then a dime a dozen, you're a stereotype. Tennis and Violin. Your stats are of course excellent, but hundreds (thousands?) of people Just. Like. You. apply to the Ivies every year. You don't have any leadership positions, either.

Not saying you don't have a shot. You have a good shot at most of the Ivies. But you don't have a hook. And this is Harvard.

i actually kinda gree with bandtenhut, it's a reach/high reach for you.

Question: Is 2nd violin 3rd chair even worth stating on the app (considering we won a national competition)?

Pfffft there's an Asian at school who only plays the piano and violin (and does a bit of photography) and got accepted at Harvard. If they didn't take people like him, where would the stereotypes come from, eh?

lukeli88 - if you're serious about Harvard, I would apply SCEA. I'm told they aren't very impressed by SAT IIs in your native language or languages you speak at home, so I would recommend taking another subject alongside Chinese like another science or maybe Literature, which doesn't require much prep. Your ECs look fine, I would recommend you get some more leadership and work hard on your essays and application - tell them about yourself, make clear your main interests.

BTW, I am also in National Society of high school scholars and National Honor roll, and have started the tutoring club.

I agree with The Ace Is Back about the Asian stereotype.

bump..........

The National Society of high school scholars and National Honor roll are scams.
They are worthless if u ask me

sounds like some one didn't get into them haha
I'm in both of them, and as they may seem easy memberships, I'm also a member of National Honor Society and other merit-exclusive fraternities

oh yeah, I am also in NHS

If you have to pay money to become a member (Who's Who, National Honor Roll, National Society of High School Scholars), is not an honor.
Check out [thread=242664]this thread[/thread]. It's one of many that have been created (you can do a search to find others).
