SCEA - Class of 2011

I'm not exactly listing "volunteer work" as an activity; that's way too general for what I've done and I think it would severly hamper my ability to express who I am. I'm listing the SPECIFIC and major activities/organizaitons that I'm actively involved with (the charity I founded, Key Club, the rehab center I'm an asst. therapist at, the class I taught to village kids, etc.). However, the award was a CUMULATIVE volunteer award. Thus, does it go under academic awards? Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to list it anywhere and it is a national award. :-/

Oh, and julyinoh, I'm putting my sport awards next to where I'm putting lacrosse under ECs.

Are you lumping all of your sporting activities together? For example, if I've played on the school team, went to sports camps, and coached the same sport, could I put it all under the general title of "Lacrosse" (seeing as how I only have one space left and both the coaching/playing are important activities I'm actively involved in)?

ive kinda lumped them together, the ones that matter the same to me? I have one sport that I like the most, and the other two are kinda just to take time.

Submitted form 1, recs out, need to do essays... bad :(

gl all....

yea, there's no room. how are you supposed to fit state titles, team records, all-region/league kinda stuff, AND that you play year-round in that tiny little box?

Well, at least you can leave out the playing year-round part by putting 50ish weeks/year in that other spot, right? :] lol. But I know what you're saying. It seems a little ridiculous.

i wasn't trying to brag, but reading back on it it may have sounded a little boa****l. i just don't get how we're supposed to fit everything into that one spot. i hear it's like a 30char limit..

haha i like how they took out s.t.f.u

hi everyone, adding myself to the list =) just read every single post on this thread :P

how many people generally apply early from your guys' school? my school last year had SEVENTY apps to stanford SCEA (not even counting regular apps...) ahhhh! freaking out here...

you know... its funny how people always stereotype senior year as being the most relaxing year. yet, i am stressed and anxious right now, meeting scholarship and college application deadlines, keeping my grades up, and doing all the other activities lol. i know all our hard work will pay off soon! funny thing is i have a feeling that chillaxin will easily get into stanford. dunno y lol. anyways, i would like to welcome all the new SCEA applicants.

Hahah, choboking, I wish you were the admissions officer. :] Sadly, I wish I had more confidence. I know that at my school, there are at least 3 of us applying early (out of a class of 669), but the other two are just downright amazing. One won a state-wide high school journalism award and writes for the local paper while the other is just the most amazing fiction and essay writer I have ever met. And with Stanford's emphasis on essays... lol. I wouldn't say we'll have 70 early apps to Stanford, but we'll probably have more than 10 from the MOST competitive.

I completely know what you mean about senior year stress. Gosh, I finally realized that I needed to take things easier after being sick all last week with the flu.

Best of luck to everyone during this time though (because you can never say it too many times)! :] Wouldn't it be amazing to meet up at Admit Weekend?

Oh, and julyinoh, I was thinking about your situation last night (it's a lot less freaky than it sounds lol), and I don't think you have to mention your team's record either because you'll have an admissions officer from your area reading and representing you app to committee, and they should be familiar with EVERYTHING about the schools (the latter part of that was something they said at an info session held at Stanford). Hope this helps some. :]

Oo.. I know what you guys mean. It's so rough, trying to balance college app essays, studying for that last SAT, painful school essays, and then activities, sports and stuff. Gosh. Junior year was a breeze compared to this. haha...

It'd be awesome if ALL of us met up on admit weekend... I mean there's only thirty some, right ;)

Hang in there all.

i wonder how many people just lurk around and dont bother putting their names on the list

I hope there aren't too many people who do that! Especially since this whole thing is anonymous.

At least until admit weekend, of course. ;o)

Just think positive everyone! We'll live through!!!

creepy lurkers. haha. woot we should band together and storm the ad office. then make them accept us. ;) a happy fantasy. ... not for adcoms, though. i guess.

LOL, devaaki!! Let's do it! :]

This is totally off-subject, but does anyone know how to check if they have our teacher recs or SAT scores on file? Or do we just have to wait until after Nov. 1st?

I'm pretty sure you can call the admissions office to check. :)

There was actually this one student who started up a whole "accept me" campaign that a bunch of other people joined. They had flags and flyers and the whole bit. But then he was rejected anyways...

Although that idea IS very tempting devaaki. :D

Sir/madam (devaaki), Choboking reporting for duty. lol ready for some stormage. shall we blockade the building first? chillaxin, i would also suggest that you call them. better to call than being moved to RD.

Well I sorta lurk.. I haven't added my name to the list, lol.. And I think I got my middle name wrong on the Rec forms. Dang it..

A blockade sounds like fun :) What stock of armaments do we possess?
I can contribute an exceedingly loud voice to set whatever mob we create into a frenzy.

I canceal my plan,i will apply Stanford for regular decison.
