SCEA - Class of 2011

Haha... pyleela, I don't know if this is the place to ask those questions... we're all prospects here ;) Unless there are weird lurker current students that are reading every post of all 28 pages of this monster thread. Creepy. lol.

Man I bet Stanford is nice... A lot better than this cold weather over here.

Actually, if you want to try dorm food, all you have to do is pay however much they require, I believe. But anyways, as for the good food part, muffins at the bookstore's cafe are THE best. :D As for actual mealtime food, go to the Clark Center (it's located right next to the School of Medicine and it's an all glass building). They have a cafeteria on the first floor, and inside is a restaurant called LINX which has just incredible food. My lab mentor took me there once, and I was just in love. The prices aren't that high either, but it does close pretty early.

Hahah, and I wouldn't call the weather nice exactly; it's been hovering in the 60s lately. Then again, I think that's the Californian in me talking lol.

Does everything at Stanford close early? I don't know how you guys live without 24 hour stores and restaurants, especially Jack-in-the-Box and, of course, Wal-Mart and Walgreen =)

Well, I'm sure current students read this also... :P

Besides, hopefully we'll all be there this time next year... (thinking positive here...)

It was FREEZING yesterday. I'm basically a life-long CA girl, and I live in the Bay Area in a valley area. It's usually cold at night here; but talk about wind chill!!! It was really cold. Maybe it's because I was sitting in the hallways? I dunno, but it was really cold. (Said that enough times yet? :D )

lol its funny how you guys are taking about the food over there when I'm still panicing over essays

Yeah, talk like we're all in and it'll come true :)

60's is cold? Try sub 40's, and a 20 degree windchill. Uh huh. Snow in early october. crazy...

Hmm, I remember a lot of 24hr places, like Rite aid, and stuff.... Stanford students are so cool, they don't need cool places to hang out to be cool ;) lol.

lol devaaki =). well, just to make you jealous, vegas still has that nice sun up lol. nice and warm - high 74, lows 55.

LOL! If only... :D Hahah, there are actually some really amazing places to eat in Palo Alto though. Plus, the Marguerite shuttle from Stanford takes you there for free!

Hey! Positive thinking never hurts! As long as we don't get too confident... :D

Oh, and another thing:

I'm assuming that we're all in the same situation in terms of how busy we are. How do you guys get the time to stay in shape? Any recommendations? :)

None whatsoever. It's hopeless =)

Actually, I normally get my hw done in a half hour. It's everything else that takes forever. Do any of you ever get tired? Cuz I'm hecka tired these days, and I have to take a nap during the day.

I haven't been working out at all. I usually swim the off-season, but I've been so busy I haven't even gotten a chance to get in the pool. It's frustrating, because I want to do it but cant. Argh.

actually, i can't find time to work on the app, its annoying with school

I think I'm just lacking some of that exercise willpower... sigh

Yeah, they should just forget about homework for seniors when it's app time. My grades are suffering... ;.;

:D Oh well--hopefully it'll all be worth it!

Oy, I know the feeling. Actually, my extra-curriculars are extremely time-consuming though (much more so than homework). I haven't gone out for a decent run in ages. :[

The way I figure it, though, is that any sleep lost/activities missed will be totally worth it come December 15th (hopefully!). And julyinoh, you totally described me with the nap thing. I find that taking a half-hour nap right when I get home does wonders.

chillaxin: agreed. hopefully it'll all be worth it, eh? =)

about the essay: are y'all sticking to the character limit or to the ~500 word limit. My long essay is only about 4300 characters but its like 700 words.

wow i can't believe you guys only take half an hour to do your homework. thats unheard of at my school, even for nonhonors (classes) students. you are truely lucky. my school jams heck of homework, especially in English - i had a three page essay due every week for AP Comp last year (so a total of ~28 essays last year.) i still somehow get to the gym every week lol. its on the way home, and, since i usually don't want to do homework, i go there instead =)

yeah..half hour?? geez lucky!

for my school AP Lit (my teacher specifically) gives two essays for hw each week :( ! so I just got assigned a paper today and it's due tomorrow...craziness.

it really kills the time I have to do apps

Most of my hw is from my own independent study language class anyways. I just put all my hw off til the very last second, and usually it's pretty light. I only take 3 AP classes, and those aren't too hard right now so I'm coasting =)

AAAH - there's a 500 word limit? I'm going by the char limit man, definitely. All my essays are over the limit, but I like it that way because if you start with too much stuff, your final essay will be full of substance. I've noticed there are two different type of people: those who write way over and those who write way under. My friend who's applying to Stanford writes under, and I write over. I figure having too much to say is better than having too little to say.

EDIT: It's now 4:30, my designated hw-cutoff time lol. I'm gonna go play some Halo, take my nap, and come back to do essays! I'll see you all then.

Wow...only 1/2 hour of homework. dream
