SCEA Countdown Thread to December 15

Only 36 more days until December 15! How are you coping with the wait? What are you doing with your time (other than being on CC)? What is one thing you're excited about doing at Yale if you get in?

I'd really love to do FOOT freshmen orientation.

I have about 9000 music events and competitions between now and the 15th, so I’m throwing myself into that. Takes my mind off the anticipation. Drumline season is finally over, so I can spend time with friends, and have a social life, and stuff. If I receive the best news of my life on the 15th, then I’d look forward to Bulldog Days first, probably. I’d definitely be excited to meet the other kids who got in.

I still have school work to worry about, and more applications to take care of. If I get in to Yale, I’ll be extremely excited. I’ll definitely plan a visit to the campus, because there’s no way I’m making any decisions without visiting. I’m in love with multiple schools I’m applying to, so it’ll be hard making choices if I get accepted… : (

^So you haven’t visited yet? And what other schools are you “in love with”? =)

^
It’s true… I haven’t visited.
I really, really like Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. I’m also applying to Johns Hopkins and UChicago, both of which I like. I know most people would be like “YALE!OMGOMG” and not even pay attention to the rest, but I want to find a school that fits what I’m looking for, with an environment and atmosphere I’d love spending four years at. That’s why I’m not making any decisions until I visit the schools I get accepted to. Obviously, I wouldn’t have applied to Yale if I didn’t think it’d be a great learning environment–I know it would be, and that it would offer so many opportunities. Yale’s my reach, and I’m pretty sure I’ll get in to CMU and JH. Hopefully UChicago, too.

What schools are you guys applying to?

Lol, I love the activity on the Yale CC forum. There’s always a new thread to distract myself from the wait! I’m glad this was made.

I’m pretty excited about Bulldog Days, too. I heard Yale really goes all out for the admitted students, which is nice.

Well, Yale is my #1, but I have quite a few reaches. Columbia is a close #2, and I’ll probably apply to Penn, Cornell, and Brown (…and maybe the H-bomb, if I’m up for it). I’m also applying to NYU, Johns Hopkins, RPI, Drexel, Boston University, and SUNY Stony Brook. But, at this point, I’m in a ‘Yale or bust’ mindset. lol.

Same. However much my logical side is telling me that the odds are against me, I can’t help but hope.

I’m also applying to Georgetown, American U, Wheaton College, Notre Dame, Ohio Wesleyan and OSU (can anybody tell where I’m from? haha).

There are a couple more schools that are “maybes” for me.

Ohio is wassup.

High five!

tries to high five * *misses
epically fails

haha. O-H-I-O!

34  It’s getting more real.

This isn’t a healthy mindset to have but if I don’t get in I will be extremely crushed. When I first entered high school I was totally set on going to UVA, and still like it a lot, but I’ve scarified TOO much to not get in somewhere awesome… like Yale.

KFV - UVA is a top, top school

to All:
Keep your options open. Have a set of atleast 3 favorite schools and don’t pin your hopes on just one. Yale is great but there are many more. If you have the cred. to apply to Yale, you will end up at a great school. good luck with the process.

Yikes. Good thing I have lots to keep me busy until then.

I have SAT score results to give myself something else to be anxious about haha

kidfromvirginia: what is “scarified”?

He meant sacrificed.

UVA is awesome.

A little off-topic, but a guy from Yale won on the Jeopardy College Round today =)

@quomodo

It’s sacrificed.

Saw that! I was rooting for him =P!
