^you are welcome.

Wow, that’s really generous/nice/heartwarming about your dad, drjotengii.

I’ll check on a computer in the library at school. If I get in, I will scream. If I get rejected, I will try my hardest not to cry in the middle of everyone. That would be v. embarrassing. If I get deferred… I’ll probably be trying not to cry too, lol.

I am putting off SO much application work because of Yale and this nasty thing called Hope.

now its officially NEXT week! less than 10 days! ahhhh!

^^ Same here. Good thing I’ll have a month of free time to make up for it.

God, so nervewrecking.
I know I’ll absolutely hate being rejected, but I kinda wish Yale would reject more SCEA than defer… because being deferred just means more false hope, especially if you are at the bottom end of the 50% (or whatever percent) deferred, whereas if you’re rejected, you can move on. Blah.
/rant

^Yeah I wish they’d do what Stanford does in this case.

Ditto…

OMG, this describes the last month of my life. Not only in terms of apps, but like actual schoolwork too…rejection is going to be a HUGE wake up call.

!!!

Okay, for the Common App short answer (elaborate on EC), did you guys elaborate on one of your previously mentioned ECs?

I talked about being self-motivated to play piano… lol

Yup! I talked about one that was huge for me that I’ve done since my freshman year, and tried to inject some of the subjective stuff about it in.

I didn’t really feel like I approached it right though in retrospect. I rewrote it quite a bit better for my newer apps, but sadly the other one to Yale shall stay, for SCEA and RD if I am deferred…

I tried to stick with stuff about myself and outside of anything else on my app for the other writings, which I guess I’ll see if 'twas a good decision soon enough…I kinda want to see my Yale decision before sending a few finished apps, so I can see if a rejection prompts me to rewrite a bunch of stuff haha…

I elaborated more about the importance of percussion to me, and the impact my teacher and friends have had on me through the program. basically our extremely close family and our commitment to one another and percussion.

i explained one of the stranger things on my activity sheet - while taking care of my neighbor’s alpacas while she was on vacation, one of them gave birth and essentially rejected the baby. apparently i have a talent for milking alpacas (?). while i put it under work experience and explained the general job, i figured “rescued newborn baby alpaca” didn’t quite sum up the drama, turmoil, and eventual triumph of the day, but i wanted to address other things more significant to who i am in my other essays.

^
That’s… amazing.

^^Wooow, is that legit?

I talked about my volunteering experience. I play sports with disabled kids every week, so i just explained what i did and what it meant to me. And yeah that was one of my mentioned ECs in the activities section.

Dude the alpaca’s awesome.

Me neither.
I sort of just explained what I did. Which is impressive, but it doesn’t really show a lot about me or why I did it or my feelings on the activity.

Oh well; my commonapp was really creative and about me and not very structured in the typical essay way, so hopefully they balance out.

8 days, 20 hours.

Almost a week!

That topic is overused, IMO.

^
LOL.

@quomodo
What structure did it follow?
My commonapp essay was structured like a short story.

That really does sound awesome!! Did by any chance the neighbor let you keep any of the babies?? That would be so cool…
