Has anyone got any email from Stanford (not the decision email) since the last notice that every required document has been received? I heard there is the email notification and there is also a website you can log onto check your acceptance... but I didn't get that information yet.

no, i just checked my e-mail and i haven't received anything from them yet.

Lovely, that's 3 AM for me, I'll be fighting with my bro for the comp! (Harvard comes out at 3 as well)

wow, twins fighting over a computer to find out their decisions from harvard and stanford in dubai? that sounds like something out of a book or a short story . in a comical/you have a cool life sort of way. what is dubai like? i've always wanted to go there.

i am so nervous about this!!! dartmouth just sent out their decisions today so my school was a little crazy. everyone was running about the hallways trying to figure out who had gotten denied and accepted since 3 girls applied ED this year.

Dubai's great if you like big, noisy, unbelievably congested, always-under-construction cities. There's always something to do, no matter what you're into or how old you are. The clubs are amazing, though pricey...the shopping is world class, if you're into that scene...the indoor snow mountain is a trip (I mean, how cool is it to be snowboarding in the Middle East), but it gets a little boring after a while. For me, the final impression is always that of a city without a soul...but then again, those places can be the most fun. :)

I'm living in Muscat, Oman, so Dubai's just a couple hours away. k_twin, best of luck to you and your brother. How long have you lived in Dubai? It'd be pretty cool if we both got in, since this region has been more and more underrepresented since 9/11...just because expat workers are tending towards Europe, Asia, and South America.

3 AM will probably come all too soon

Well, I've lived in Muscat for 9 years, been in Dubai for nearly 5, so I suppose I'm a denizen of both in spirit...

It's hard to define Dubai, as is true of most cities, I suppose. A complex juxtaposition of a "floor-every-4 days" culture with the highest crane concentration in the world to an existent class system with rampant discrimination.
It's a different place, somehow combining a frenetic pace of life with innovation and the constant expansion of a bubble that you're sure will eventually burst but never has.
It's only in Dubai that your Chemistry text books will have chapters on Alcohols torn out (the Ministry of Education reigns supreme), while there's a teeming nightlife, only in Dubai that it'll take half an hour to reach a shopping complex that seems right next to you.
It's certainly a different place, worth a visit.

We'll find out in 7 odd days skatearabia, I'd personally see it come sooner than later, it's the wait that's agony.

OMG my friend found out she got in through Questbridge, and she is screaming up and down! I'm so happy for her.

Congrats to your friend!

what is Questbridge?

Wow.. props to her.. I hear it's like 5% or something acceptance rate through Questbridge..

k_twin and skatearabia:

wow.the area sounds interesting to say the least. once i saw this television show about the ski hill in dubai, it seemed so cool. i remember the first time i went to new york city, it was a huge shock, coming from modest little minnesota. i can't imagine what the middle east would be like, especially dubai. i was so surprised to hear about the chemistry books though! its funny how much i just live inside my own world even though i try to be aware of what's going on everywhere else. dubai does sound unique, thats for sure. i hope to make it there someday. my family has roots in the middle east and we've been planning a tentative visit for years, but it keeps getting pushed back because it is too dangerous. i really hope you guys both get in, i would like to see a stronger middle eastern representation too. exciting to think that next year, whether it is at stanford or not, we will be living will people form all over the world! thanks for responding :)

wow i must say this group of SCEAers are so diverse haha. it would be so awesome if we can visit every SCEAer's hometown. i especially want to see that ski resort at dubai lol.

indoor ski hill? That does sound pretty awesome... :D

does anyone know if stanford does the whole big/small envelope thing?

yup.

if you're accepted, you'll see a large envelope w/ viewbook and a decal. the envelope says "congratulations" in big red letters.

5 days and some change left guys....

Man.. it's like my life converges on THAT day. My family and girlfriend are both coming back on that day. I haven't seen my gf (she's in college) for almost a month, and haven't seen my family for four.
