SCEA Countdown Thread

yeah, we don't... :(

We have mock trial, and I went to one meeting freshman year, but then I stopped. Don't remember why, but I really wish I had been a part of it. shrug No regrets though!!! :D

Well, I cant slack off too much, Stanford might revoke my acceptance. I heard they're pretty strict about that, like even one C could lead to one. And it would especially suck, because its the only school I'm applying to. From Stanford to Community College, my parents would kill me.

Okay, pretty sure the 'Asian Despair' going on in the College Admissions forum is freaking me out. And I'm pretty sure I'm ten times more worried about my pitiful app, once I think about it. Ugh.

Eh...I wouldn't worry about it too much, most of the Ivy League admits from my school last year were Asian, and some weren't even standout Asians compared to some of the Whites who got rejected. The Stanford admits we had were mostly white, but thats only because they had legacies/double legacies/quintuple legacies and had sometimes upwards of 30 relatives attending Stanford. I'm not even sure how thats possible.

Yea I just try not to think about my application, cuz it makes me depressed lol

Wow...this thread is dying along with the other SCEA one... :(

:D On the plus side, I had a dream tonight that I was accepted!!! It was pretty awesome...and weird...but lets not get into that...

crosses fingers

Well, then the thread needs to un-die. (:

I was talking to my bf about how I'm waiting for my big letter/small letter envelope experience and we decided that if we were a college admissions committee, we'd send out some small letters to really good applicants just to mess with them, and some big letters to really sucky applicants that we hated.

The end.

Ouch...that would be mean...

Actually, I had this experience before entering high school. We had to take a test to get into the Honors English program. They sent me the "I accept" contract and the letter that said: you've been rejected...

I was just bummed out, but my mom called to ask why I didn't get in. Turns out I was in the top 10 of the test-takers.

And you know, some people might just see the small envelope and throw it away rather than seeing what's inside. shrug Who knows how a person might think...

Online decisions are just as nerve-wracking. My parents know decisions come mid-December but they don't know my password or the exact time of day. Not telling them either. They're the kind of parents who get overly into this whole college thing.

I was a little curious about what you meant by the "We the People" style of debating, so perhaps you could describe a typical debate competition?
(I've only been exposed to 2 styles so far, so it'd definitely be interesting :) )

What would be really different for college admissions letters is if they just had two words: "you're in" :D

b4nnd20, are you applying SCEA to Stanford or Yale? Just curious.

Yale, how did you know? I know I am posting in the Stanford thread but my posts are pretty generic and the Yale thread isn't always lively.

k_twin: "We the People" is actually a mock congressional hearing. It is not, per say, a definite style of debating. It is just the name of the program. We have four minutes of a presentation (we have to have three questions w/ their answers to "present"). Then, we have a 6 min. question and answer session at the local level and an 11 min. question and answer session at the national level.

haha im pretty nervous
i tried to submit oct 31 and the server kinda died for a while so that made me super panic ><

^ That would freak me out too...and I turned in my app around 8 PM PST on Nov. 1st. aaahhh :D

^wow thats early...i turned in 10PM pacific which was like 1AM eastern?
i thot it crashed only around the time i submitted. haha cuz i was about to submit (before that site worked fine) and then it HAD to die on me right then...then i panicked for 30 min before it went back up.

bump plus question

does anyone know of a free utility to convert pdfs to .doc files so I can edit them?
TIA :)

Search for pdf editor in Google?

bump.

twenty days!

O__O

incredibly cliche but I'll say it anyways...it still hasn't hit me how soon it's gonna be. then again, it's probably because the past two weeks have been unbearably long with apps, schoolwork, and whatnot. pure mental anguish, i tell you...T_T

i hate interviews!! so glad stanford doesn't have those.
