Sorry I tried looking for earlier threads about this but couldn't find this (obviously my searching skills leave much room for improvement).

Isn't it true though, because universities
a) like to see dedication to their school alone (if it's SCEA/Early DECISION)
b) will be guaranteed a higher yield (in a way...and this DOES determine their rankings, which matters a lot to them).

I'm talking about Ivies and the top 10 schools.
Also, if based on that, would ED > EA then for admissions?

After you look at this link for early decisions and actions, go to the bottom and take a look at the class of 2013 for an early versus regular statistic.

Statistically, ED is better, you’re right. When they can guarantee your matriculation, they’re more likely to admit you.

I think the big advantage to SCEA over RD is that you’re in a separate applicant pool, and one that is much smaller. If you have a strong application, I always figure you’re much less likely to get lost in the shuffle EA or SCEA.

EA and SCEA, however, typically have more competitive (albeit smaller) applicant pools, which can make it difficult for the non-national debate champions/published authors/etc to stand out.
