SCEA First Quarter Grades: Report or Don't Report

Just curious what the convention is on reporting first quarter grades.

Did Yale request them of any applicants? I've heard requesting is fairly standard for most schools but of course, being the individual institution that it is, Yale can hardly be expected to follow that same token. Although I had also heard that first semester senior grades are exceptionally important...

What did you all do?

First semester is, but since you applied SCEA, it’s not over yet. So no, they do not require first quarter grades.

Is it a good idea to just have your counselor fax over first quarter grades if they’re good? Since that’ll show you’re still doing okay senior year even though they don’t have first semester grades yet?

I didn’t have my counselor do that since I really wasn’t sure what to do. But it seems like a good idea even though it’s not required or recommended or anything. Did anyone do that?

I figured that sending great results from the first quarter won’t hurt. So I asked our school guidance dept. to fax the report card – which they did.

faxed mine as well
