Follow your gut-there is a reason you have been "looking at" Yale since freshman year. Its a goal you have worked hard to attain.

Hey, one of my friends wants to be a UN interpreter! He's crazy. He just buys translation dictionaries to obscure languages and then reads books... Pretty odd actually.

Don't they strongly suggest that both of your teacher reccomendations be from academic subjects? Perhaps your band director could write you a supplemental rec...

Otherwise you look about as dedicated and qualified as everyone else here. You've absolutely earned your right to apply. Best of luck!

ny<3--Potus2 is correct. Both your teacher recs need to be from academic subjects; band doesn't cut it.

If Yale has been your dream school forever, then definitely apply early. Make sure your essay shines. You're certainly in the range of admittable applicants, but nothing makes you a standout. Your essay is your opportunity to show what you would add to the campus and why they should admit you.

I would think being from Nebraska would help.

Good luck. Are you sure you'd be happy at U of Iowa? If the answer is yes, absolutely, then you've got a good list. If the answer is yes, with reservation, then you need to find a couple more safeties. I don't know enough about BC's admissions profile these days, but it's only other college I see on your list that might be a safety/match for someone with your profile.

thanks to everyone who commented!

Anyone else have any views?
