I applied single choice early action to Yale, and regular decision to a bunch of other schools (although I submitted those applications well before the deadlines).
I was deferred by Yale, but then a few days later I got a letter from Villanova saying that 'although you applied regular decision, we have decided to accept you as an early action candidate.'
It was an unexpected surprise, so I was pretty happy, but then I started wondering. Even though I applied regular decision to Villanova, would this violate the terms of my SCEA application to Yale? And does it make a difference that I was deferred by Yale and now essentially in the regular decision pool?
Thanks for your help!
(Also this is probably irrelevant but I was nominated for and applying for the Villanova Presidential Scholarship.)

Once there is deferral, the SCEA agreement is over and you can apply or accept admission anywhere including any late early action or early decision 2 program. Since you did not specifically apply to Villanova early action, you have done nothing wrong.

It’s just marketing my VNova to say they really want you (and it seems to be working based on your reaction). You didn’t violate Yale’s terms.

Ok thanks for the help
