How do interviewers contact applicants to schedule interviews? Is it by phone or e-mail?

Either – whatever works. Your home, mobile and email addresses are sent to us.

I submitted my SCEA application November 5th (hurricane impacted area), and I haven’t gotten contacted for an interview yet. When’s the last date I might get contacted for an interview? Did I submit my app too late to get one? (I live in a New Jersey suburb.) Thanks!

SCEA reports are due 01-Dec. Your interview is all dependent on your local alumni group.

Sorry to go off topic (I’m experiencing technical problems with starting a new thread)
Does Yale still consider you for SCEA if you write your SAT on 01 December?

I have contacted the admissions office to inform them of my difficult situation which resulted in an inability to write in November. And I am yet to get a reply.

This is very stressful as I fear that if SCEA applications aren’t complete then they tossed away, instead of being added to RD.

Please help, any advise will be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Yale will announce SCEA acceptances before the December SAT test results are available to colleges on December 20th. So, no Yale will NOT consider you for SCEA with a December SAT.

The last possible test dates are

Single-Choice Early Action

for SAT: November
for ACT: October
for TOEFL: November 5

Regular Decision

for SAT: January
for ACT: February
for TOEFL: January

BTW: Your SCEA application will not be discarded, it will be placed in the RD pool.

I’ve gotten a few calls from “random” numbers lately… Should I be worried if I didn’t pick up? Do Yale interviewers try to contact you through a secondary channel?

You should be prepared for interviewers calling whatever number you’ve put down on your application. Assuming you have voicemail on the number, the interviewer is also likely to leave a message with a callback number if he/she can’t reach you.

My son and daughter were contacted by email for their interviews. (Check your junk folder everyday this month.) The contact information that you listed on the Common App is given to your alumni interviewer. If you listed your cell phone number on the Common App, they may try to call you, if you didn’t respond to email.

@gibby. Sounds about right. I think younger alum are more likely to get in touch via email, but older alum might be more likely to call.

I’ve morphed into including an intro text as Yale now gives us the students’ mobile phone numbers. Their home/land lines seem to be the lowest on the totem pole these days.

For those compulsing about being contacted for interviews, my son (SCEA '15 admit) did not get contacted by his interviewer until 11/23. So don’t panic yet. ;)
