SCEA One Ivy and One Public School?

So, a couple weeks ago I went to an “exploring college options” seminar where representatives from Georgetown, Stanford, Harvard, UPenn, and Duke came to ask questions and speak about their school. During the Harvard representative’s speech, he mentioned that although Harvard is SCEA, you may apply to non-binding early action public schools, like U of M as well. Is this true?

Yes. You can apply to any public college/university and any university outside of the US, in addition to Harvard’s SCEA.

Two things: 1) you’re questioning whether the representative of Harvard knows what he’s talking about regarding Harvard admissions? And you’re asking faceless people on the internet to verify? 2) You could have checked this yourself on the Harvard website like skieurope did.

Note that other schools using Restricted Early Admission may have different rules. You need to check each school.

@Erin’s Dad Sorry, I didn’t address my concern properly in my question. I was asking if this policy applies to all SCEA schools. I posted to CC after endless google searches so I was pretty frustrated and I typed out my question a little too quickly without really reading it over. I’m sorry if you took offense in what I said, I didn’t mean to question Harvard’s representative. I’ll be sure to check each school’s rules. Thanks.

OP, I wasn’t offended. I just wanted to point out how the question didn’t make any sense. I’ve found that colleges with restricted EA are fairly clear on their web sites as to what is allowed, though you may have to find the FAQs for that.

Look on the web site of each SCEA school to find out its rules.

Tulane appears to be more restrictive on SCEA exceptions than some others.
