scea or rd

What to do? At the lower end of acceptance range. Better chance of admit if I apply SCEA to show how bad I want it, or to wait and be able to show another semester of toughest classes, high gpa, stronger art portfolio, and maybe more time for another round of dreaded SATIIs. Any advice? I'm not seeing any why Stanford in the ap. so I can make it clear how much I love The Farm.

A strong application is more important than an early one.

nngmm, i see you responding to alot of stanford questions. Are you a current student? Do you have any information about how seriously being a strong, dedicated art student matters to the adcoms. I know
Stanford is thought of as a techie school by some, but I love the art department and public policy institute. Any thoughts?

I am a parent. Two of my kids were accepted to Stanford, though one decided to attend a different school. I do not have any info on art department, but I know that they give you an option to submit a portfolio. If you are a serious art student, you should definitely do that. It will be evaluated by the art department, and if they want you, it will be a huge leg up. Same goes for the audition tapes. You don't make any commitment by submitting those, and it can't hurt you to do so.

If you are submitting a portfolio, make sure to check the deadlines (they are probably slightly earlier then the rest of the application).

Thanks for your help, yes submissions are 2 weeks earlier for both scea and rd. Did your kids apply early?

If you feel your senior grades and test scores will stregthen your application, wait and apply RD. Stanford isn't very concerned about yield and the fact that you really want to be there will not matter to them. They don't even track student interest.
Prepare your application and portfolio with great care. Take your time.

A.S.A.P. and nngmm - thanks - i've been way too caught up with SCEA - thnking it's my only chance - but i'm thinking you're right - i'll take a breath and a chance on rd - my essays will be better with more time.
