Schedule advice

Hi,

I am a second semester senior with an excellent GPA at a top 10 school and I am thinking of applying to T14 law schools after a year or two of work experience. My LSAT is also very good, but not in the "auto admit" level for the T10. I had scheduled four classes for this semester, but I really only need three to graduate. The fourth class is more stressful and less interesting than I anticipated and I am thinking of dropping it or taking it pass/fail. My advisor thinks that may look like coasting senior year and possibly raise a red flag on my law school applications. Agree or disagree?

Which would look better, three classes with A's (or A-) or four classes with a mix of As & Bs?

I am sure you have already considered your school’s regulations regarding status as a full time student, but if not make sure you do before you start dropping courses. What matters most for LS is your GPA + LSAT. Course selection and rigor of schedule is probably more in the category of a soft factor. Taking one class pass/fail is not going to set off any alarm bells.

drop the course, provided it is not a penalized withdrawal (check with LSAC if necessary). otherwise it will count as an “F”.
