Schedule- beyond irked.

How bad(as in not rigorous enough) does my schedule look for my junior year. I just got a new schedule because of some scheduling and teacher conflict issues at my school and I had to drop my math class for a lower one and switch a bunch of classes so this is what it looks like now. Any comments or advice? (Rate 1-10?)
Schedule:
Freshman Comp I (DE)/ Freshman Comp 2 (DE)
AP American History
Trigonometry & Analytical Geometry Honors (-.-)
Introductory Sociology (DE) / Intro to Business (DE)
Theatre 3 Honors
JROTC 3
General Psychology (DE)/ Principles of Chemistry (DE)
(Was in Pre-Calc Honors but I didn't like the teachers methods so I'm taking it online this summer)

Your schedule seems very strong. Multiple Dual Enrollment courses, especially science based ones, are very impressive. I’d say anywhere between 8/10 to 10/10 depending on where you’re hoping to apply and whatnot.

How many AP classes does your school offer and how many will you have taken by the time you graduate?

Why don’t you have a foreign language class?

Is the dual enrollment at your school or at a college?

Are you going to take or have you taken physics?

What colleges are you looking at?

AP > DE when there is an AP equivalent.

I always thought those were the same thing…if you’ll still be in calculus next year, everything is fine.

To answer your questions:
Q1: 16 APs- I will have taken 5, because instead of AP English Comp, English Lit, Psych, Spanish Lang, & Chem I am taking a course through my local community college instead.

Q2: No room, taking Spanish 2 online through FLVS, which shows up on my transcript like as if I took the course at my HS.

Q3: Local community college.

Q4: Honors Physics next year, no AP because it’s a 2 Period class and I don’t and won’t have room for that.

Q5: A few schools on my list are: U of Florida, U of Central Florida, U of Alabama, Indiana University- Bloomington, U of Miami and my unrealistic dreams, Vanderbilt, Duke & UVA.
“Pre-Calc / Trig” - So did I, apparently not, but I’m hoping to be in Stats next year not Calc, I HATE math!

Again, I’d recommend taking AP instead of dual enrollment whenever possible. (It’s more standardized…individual community colleges vary in how rigorous their courses are.) If this isn’t possible, you could still try and take the corresponding AP tests for the community college courses you’re taking.

Are you taking any other courses for credit that you didn’t mention in your first post?

If you look at the admissions websites for these schools, they’ll have a list of subjects they want you to have taken and how many years you should have. Make sure you’re meeting these recommendations (and hopefully exceeding them in a couple areas).

Thanks a lot for all the help!
-I’ll see what I can do about the APs vs DE, it’s just that for every one AP I can take I can take 2 DE classes in a wider range of subjects. I’ll see about switching a few to APs, maybe Stats and Chem.

 • I’m also taking Algebra 2 Honors (retake for Grade Forgiveness) and possibly Pre-Calc, in addition to Spanish 2.
 • I’ve checked most of the sites and I’m in range for most of the schools, I’m only a little “sub-par” on a few “recommended” foreign language categories, but I have the required years.
