i just switched out of my second semester ap environmental science class into one quarter of ap microeconomics followed by one quarter of a regular class called contemporary issues, where we basically discuss and learn more about current events, controversial topics, etc. before this change, however, i submitted the common app to a couple of schools, and it says i’m taking ap environmental science next semester. since i switched into a non-ap class, should i tell these colleges? will it have a big impact on my application if i don’t? should i switch back into ap environmental science?
Yes, you need to contact all colleges with your schedule change since your final transcript needs to match up with your self-reported courses on the application. Depending upon which colleges you applied, switching out of an AP class to a non-AP class may slightly impact your chances but AP Environmental is not considered a rigorous AP class so it should not be an issue.
Not only should you, you must according to your electronic signature on the Common App.
Too little info provided to determine. It probably won’t matter unless the change form a science class to a non-science class brings you under the college’s recommended # of years for science.
I’m rather surprised that the HS is letting you switch out of a full year course, and an AP course at that.
@skieurope first off, it’s not a full year course, it’s a semester long course. second, i have about 10 science credits already, including honors/ap bio, honors/ap chem, and honors physics/ap physics c (school requirement is 3). third, i’m switching from an ap course into two courses: an ap course and a regular one that comes with it, which is out of my control.
OK, I apologize for misinterpreting. Then no, I don’t think that switching will be an issue for the colleges. You still, however, need to tell them.
Ok, will do, thank you
