Schedule Difficulties

I am still having trouble working out my schedule...

Next year my school is going to start requiring all students to take Honors English 4 prior to entering AP English Literature. This totally messes up my entire planned schedule. So, I now need some major help.

First of all, how bad would it be to take Honors English, and not take AP? Also, would colleges frown upon not taking a Social Science course all four years?

I am planning on doing Pre-Pharmacy at UNC-Chapel Hill. Due to the extensive science courses required, I figured that the more science courses taken in high school the better it would be. However, it states on UNC's website that they recommend students to take a Social Studies course all four years. If I wasn't so worried what colleges would think, I would definitely go with choice 1. I have always enjoyed science, and English is by far my worst subject.

Keeping these things in mind, please look at the following schedules and give me feedback on which you would do. Thanks!

Choice 1:
1st Semester:

AP Calculus (part 1)
AP Chemistry (part 1)
Yearbook
Spanish 3 Honors
AP Biology (part 1)

2nd Semester:

AP Calculus (part 2)
AP Chemistry (part 2)
Yearbook
Honors English 4
AP Biology (part 2)

OR

Choice 2:
1st Semester:

AP Calculus (part 1)
AP Chemistry (part 1)
Yearbook
Spanish 3 Honors
Honors English 4

2nd Semester:

AP Calculus (part 2)
AP Chemistry (part 2)
Yearbook
AP Psychology
AP English Literature

I am a science guru as well, I love it! That being said I found a way to fit AP Lit into my schedule, but I would've never sacrificed one of my science courses for it, I hate english! Take option 1, it seems to be more your passion, also AP Bio is way interesting and sacrificing it for AP Lit would be a mistake.

anyone else have an opinion?

I'm sorry csummerlin2008 they have not been responding to my thread either.

Ditch yearbook and take Bio and English Lit.

i like option 2 but i hate bio and love english. i think it would look better to colleges too in all honesty, but if you would be totally miserable in the class then i guess that's that.

^^yearbook is probably his passion. What is your problem you attack the classes people are passionate about and try to strip people of their uniquness. you are certainly "theloneranger" for a reason.

I am not ditching yearbook; I am Editor and I thoroughly enjoy it.

That is what I was afraid of - that it would look better to take AP English rather than taking Bio. Option 2 would actually probably be easier on me, and look better to colleges. Taking both AP Chem and AP Bio would probably end up being way too much science for me to handle.

AP English is more commonly taken, so taking AP Bio would make you more unique. Bio and Chem together is'nt hard.

bio and chem would hardly make him look unique:D and taking ap english would make him look like a more well-rounded student

Only 131,783 students took AP Bio last year while 281,111 students took AP Lit so clearly the stats say that a person who takes AP Bio is more unique than one who takes AP Lit. That's right from the college board site.

statistics dont lie

Lies on the other hand, do statistics.

Wow... I was decided on doing Option 2, but then Michael made an interesting point - that Option 1 is more unique. I need more opinions please!

michael1 just because less people take AP bio doesnt mean he'd look unique. a heck of a lot of people still DO take ap bio. if he takes ap english, it'll show he's skilled in both subjects.

I think I have to agree with GreenDayFan. I need to have the most rigorous courses for all of my core subjects, not just science. Therefore, I should go with Option 2.
