im thinking of choosing these classes for fall:

cse 20
math 20c
warren writing a

is this a good schedule? will i be able to handle it? im a little worried about cse20 as i've heard from other ppl taht the teacher isnt great.

please let me know!

ok im really sorry because i dont have an answer, and i dont want to hijack your post, but i want to be a CS major and i am considering warren college.

So what are you considering as your areas of study or pofcs and how do they work, and are you gonna minor in anything?

@lifeistough

That’s a good schedule and I would even recommend you sign up for another class. Maybe an Area Study. If you think it’s too hard after a couple weeks, you can always drop a class.

@mccormickt12

Since you would be an engineering major, you would get 2 Area Studies. That would be 3 classes in Humanities/Fine Arts and 3 classes in a Social Science. You pretty much get to pick whatever classes you want from those.

ohhh thank you, so i could still minor in engineering, right now im lookin at biology, could i minor in that.

7 uper division classes is a minor correct?
how many for a major?

^You can certainly minor in whatever you like. For minors, it’s not necessarily 7 upper division classes, but usually 7 classes total (or somewhere around there). I don’t know how many classes for a major though. I guess it varies for each major.

@kingselite: my cse counselor recommended us to take 3 classes first quarter. is that advisable? or should i just take 4? do most cse students take 3 classes in fall?

^Like I said before, I would sign up for 4, and then drop one if it’s too hard. It’s much easier to drop a class if it’s too hard of a schedule than add a class if it’s too easy of one.

This is going to be another very naive question but does dropping a class like that kind of negatively affect your GPA or anything?

^If you drop before the end of the 4th week, it’s nothing against you and won’t be shown that you ever took the class. If you drop between the 5th and 9th week, you get something called a “W” which I guess doesn’t look great, but it also does not affect your GPA. You can’t drop a class after the 9th week and you’re only allowed one W per course. But, if you’re just trying a class out, you’ll most likely know if you want to be in it or not before the end of the 2nd week. Well before the end of the 4th.

Thanks again! Just a note but you and a handful of other members on here always seem to have the answers we look for haha
