schedule for premed freshmen...is it too hard/easy?

I want to take

Chem 1A with lab: 4 units
MCB 32 Introduction to Human Physiology: 3 units
Art 8 Introduction to Visual Thinking: 4 units
Math 1b Calculus: 4 units
a freshmen seminar: 1 unit

Some classes I am thinking about are:
Chinese 100 AX Advanced Chinese for Mandarin Speakers: 3 units
or
Chinese 155 Readings in Vernacular Chinese Literature: 4 units
or
SLAVIC LANGUAGES AND LITERATURES R5A Writing and Reading about Russia
or
VISUAL STUDIES 181 Introduction to Photography: 4 units

any suggestion? My Calso is this weekend and I am kind of anxious about it. I don't know what classes should I take and how hard the classes are going to be.
By the way, I have AP credits for chem and calc bc already from last year. I just took AP bio this May and I think I can probably get a 4 or 5.

Thanks for any suggestion!

I think your schedule is doable. I don't know if I'd advise adding another class, since you are a freshman. You want to keep it relatively light your first semester, so maybe you can get into the flow of college classes (if you're like me, I had terrible habits that I had to learn to get rid of.)

Also, maybe you'll want to spend more time meeting people and such. But if you're ambitious, and have good habits, then maybe you can add one of those other classes, but 16 should keep you occupied.

skip the AP credits. Med school is all about grades, first and foremost. Take Calc 1A for the relatively easier A. Or, better yet, take Math 16AB (why compete with the engineers and math majors?)

If you want to major in MCB then you must take Math 1A/B, if that isn't your plan then bluebayou is right.

on an aside, is chem 1a really as hard as the advisor at calso made it out to be? I've forgotten alot of my high school chem (non-ap) taken soph yr. She scared me into taking chem p because chem1a sounds near impossible unless you're freaking memorize chem textbooks for breakfast.

chem1a's not THAT hard..
its pretty doable if you study for it. (meaning reading the chapters and doing some questions..)

ochem......... is a whole new story.

chem 1a was pretty chill. all you have to do is read the text book every week and do your homework and you should get an A or A+.

from what I hear, as long as you keep up in ochem, you should be fine as well. a bunch of my friends thought it was pretty easy (got A+'s).

don't take chem p, please. Those advisors at CalSO seem to enjoy scaring freshmen about how hard classes are. Don't listen to them. GChem is doable as long as you keep up with the readings and you go to lecture and participate.
Personally, I thought Ochem, while slightly harder than GChem, was WAY more fun. I ended up with an A+ in first semester ochem.

@BlueElmo, What is your name?

uhhh, why?

Is is harder to get an A is Math 1b or 53? People keep telling me that 1b is a weed out class and is very hard to get an A there
