<p>Here's the dilemma: I want to take 5 APs next year and I need to take english. With the planned schedule I want, there is no room for orchestra. This wouldn't be a problem because at the moment I am in a small community orchestra that meets once a week. This is my main extracurricular. The problem is I am not supposed to be in this orchestra if I am not in my school orchestra. What do you guys recommend I do? Do I take off 2 AP's? Or do I drop my extracurricular, and take up more volunteer work?
To be honest, I do not really like school orchestra, but I do enjoy playing in the community orchestra. I also really want the 5 AP's I've planned on taking.</p>
<p>It really depends on a lot of things. How long have you been in the orchestra? If you’ve been in it for a while and you really like playing in the community orchestra, I wouldn’t drop it. Especially since colleges like to see that you stick with your extracurriculars for a long time. Since you have to take English, I would list the 5 AP’s from highest desire to take to lowest desire to take, and eliminate the one that you have the lowest desire to take.</p>

<p>Don’t worry about the leadership position. I have been in band for 7 years, and I believe it’s pretty similar to orchestra in which there are very few leadership positions available. But if you’ve been in orchestra for 5 years, definitely stick with it until you graduate and maybe even after. Glad I could help!</p>

<p>^ Two of the AP’s are a full year, and at least one will be the same time as orchestra. My school uses a semester schedule, 4 classes with each semester, so I would be dropping 2 AP’s to take orchestra. If it were that simple, I wouldn’t need to ask helpful angels like you.</p>
