Hi, I'm going to be a freshmen this year and I am really overwhelmed with figuring out what classes to take. How many courses should I take? I'm in LSA and I want to major in cellular/molecular biology.

If I were to take:
CHEM 130 and 125
MATH 115
ENGLISH 125 or 124 (which one do you recommend?)
BIOLOGY 171

Is that too difficult? Or not difficult enough? I took Spanish all four years in high school so I almost feel like I should finish the language requirement as soon as possible. (I'm not sure I'll pass the four-term requirement)

I heard that most people take English 125 because it focuses more on writing

^^ that is correct; 124 is more reading while 125 is more writing.

Your schedule looks good – I suspect that you’re premed?

Most people are surprised by how easy the spanish placement test is, so don’t worry too much about it. If you still feel really uncomfortable I recommend just making sure you know conjugations and stuff. Testing out of a language is extremely beneficial, so it’s worth your time to study.

do you not have ap credit to get you out of chem and bio intros? those classes are supposed to be weeder classes too and i doubt you’ll learn much doing those the 2nd time around
