Schedule Help

Hello,
I am currently a sophomore and I cannot decide what to take for junior year. I want to major in the technological field, most likely computer science.

The Classes I Know I Will Take:
AP English III
AP US History
AP Calculus B/C
Physics Honors or AP Chemistry

Possible Classes:
Spanish III Honors
AP Computer Science
Academic Decathlon (weighted same as AP)
AP Chemistry (Double Block, and to take this I would need to Credit-by-exam Physics over summer)

My thoughts: I think Spanish III Honors is pretty important overall, but I don't know if a good technological school such as MIT, GA Tech, or UT Austin would care much about a third year of language. I want to take AP Computer Science since it is interesting and I am majoring in computer science. I want to take Academic Decathlon since I am interested in competitions and it seems fun. Plus, my counselor said it's good to have an extracurricular like Academic Decathlon. Finally, I want to take AP Chemistry so I can take AP Physics in senior year.

So right now I'm leaning towards 3 choices: taking Spanish III Honors, AP Chemistry, and Academic Decathlon; Spanish III Honors, AP Chemistry, and AP Computer Science; and Spanish III Honors, Honors Physics, AP Computer Science, and Academic Decathlon.

I guess my question is, when you apply for college, do they see what classes you take for senior year? Because if they don't, then I would take AP Computer Science so they know I took relevant classes to my major, but if they do, then I could just take AP Computer Science senior year.

Thanks in advance for your input (I am very nooby when it comes to college stuff)!

They do see your classes that you take for senior classes and they receive your first semester grades. I would suggest that you take Spanish, AP Chem and Academic Decathlon and then take AP Comp Science in senior year. That’s what I did.

Thanks for the response! I’m glad they see your schedule.

If your colleges use the common app, you list your senior year classes on it, and the colleges will see the results on the mid-year transcript. Go ahead an take Spanish, AP Chem and Academic Decathlon next year.
