Schedule next year

Ill be a junior next year and the schedule my school just sent me looks like this
AP physics
AP chem
AP us history
AP calculus AB
AP jr english
honors french 4
study hall

Normally, my school lets juniors take 3 aps at most. There might have been a typo, because i had discussed my schedule with some of my teachers before and they said it would be better to take honors precalculus and a semester of strings (to finish my arts requirement) rather than AP ab calculus. Should I stick with this schedule? Last year, i had the hardest schedule possible as a sophomore with 3 honors and 1 ap course and no study hall, but i did just fine and my gpa stayed pretty close to 4. Do yall think pre-calc is really necessary to take AP calc? Also, I can take calc BC my senior year, right?

Your schedule is hard.. I mean look at mine.

I'm gonna be a senior. :) Block scheduling rules, with the exception that scheduling EVERYthing you want is difficult. But the day goes by thisfast and I don't ged bored from repetition.

Crazy, I say definitely stick with Precalc Honors. I'm suprised your school doesn't require it before heading onto AB.

Your schedule is very tough for a junior and some seniors wouldn't even want to take it on. Just keep that in mind.

12 classes?!?! lol, that is alot... but I guess its good college prep isn't it, xhohosntwinkiesx?

I wonder, my school does not have the option of block scheduling... but if I am a very very excellent student (IF) and I get straight A's, good EC's etc, would they allow an exception for a student or two to use block scheduling even if the school does not go that way?

Hmmm. I have no idea. You talking independent study? If the school doesn't go that way, I don't see it happening. If you had a double study hall and wanted to independent study something, which seems totally different from what you're asking me, then perhaps. :)

Talk to the gc.

well I am part of the Gifted Program if thats what you mean. I am taking a class next year since I am in the Talented and Gifted Program which is an independant seminar and study type of thing.

Is that what you mean?

Sorry if my last post was confusing. My head's a mess right now. lol

Basically, if your school doesn't have block, I don't see how it can happen. I can just tell you about my school as an example. Basically, a lot of APs/honors take place one block a year and that's it. The teachers teach it only for that time. So the schedule is like a puzzle. The classes are 85 minutes each. You have 4 blocks per semester, eight total. Rarely does an AP last 2 semesters; usually one semester or a semester and a half. Depends.

If you have any more questions, you can IM me if you feel like it.

but can i still take calc BC next year if i take AB this year?

yeah but if ur good at math take BC AB is really unnecessary.

if your doing something other then engineering or very math oriented majors, then just take AB and get it over with.

However for big math majors like engineering, etc, then BC would be the way to go. As imiracle911 said, taking both IS unnecessary since BC is basically all of AB plus alot more.

To all you AP/IB children, good luck with the insanity.

As for me:

Physics
US Government/Economics
Calculus
Business Law
Acc. English IV

Crappy schools...

I wish my school had IB. Just APs though, heh. Aren't IB courses tougher?

I'm not really sure if they're tougher or not. Sorry.

our school has AP and I think that for English/history IB is much better.
When I was taking APUSH I found so many holes in what we were doing. We never had much reading to do, and practically no discussions. We were just busy finishing before the year.

I heard that math/science in IB sucks compared to AP. But I still doubt the AP in math, since practically there is little proof to be done and in science subjects there are too many units we skip because it's not on the AP exam.

ok well ill see if i can switch to honors pre-calc...that would prbly be the way to go. Id still be the only junior taking 4 aps anyway.

=[ Glue you're on! >/// IM me,bud! [punches him on the shoulder]

4 APs for a junior is impressive.

sneakie, whats ur AIM sn? i forgot it

ah nvm i got it...hey! i was just about to IM u but u signed off :-(
