Schedule of classes...suck o.O

What is up with Fall 2011? All life science GEs, upper division History, and Urban Planning courses suck or are limited.

Especially History. There just doesn't seem to be any good professors this quarter and there are hardly any interesting ones (at least ones with easy professors).

Gah...great way to start senior year. Anyone agree that choice of classes seem to be a bit lacking this time?

I thought the upper div math offerings looked surprisingly good. There don’t seem to be many philosophy courses being offered though. Statistics seems to have pretty typical offerings.

I thought that Phil. Looked really good this time around. Medical Ethics is a class they usually only offer in the summer, and now they’re offering it in the fall. They’re offering 127A-C all in fall (although Kaplan, the guy famous for teaching them is only teaching B and C)

Kant class wasn’t offered last year, but it’s being offered this year (although not being taught by the person in the department famous for him [Barbara Herman])

Topics in logic and semantics will probably be really interesting and taught by a pretty famous philosopher and linguist (terrance parsons)

and i think Julius is teaching his normative ethics class on Doing vs Allowing Harm which i think is really interesting (although i sent him an email and he hasn’t confirmed or denied this)

overall i’m really happy with how the classes turned out this quarter :)

I wasn’t so excited with the Political Science courses. There’s only one class I think I’ll sign up for -_-'. Geography looks nice. So many classes I want to take in that department, so little time.

I agree… something is wrong with the fall classes… I hope some teachers are going to be added because Im a history major and I only found one class im interested in. All the good teachers like Ruiz/Corey are not teaching. What the heck is going on?

Does anyone know if this is the complete schedule? Or will it be updated?

Yeah, I guess the fall offerings are pretty good. Maybe I was thinking of the other quarters next year.

Thank goodness another history major who understands! All of my history friends agree with me too.

No Teo?! REALLY? You KNOW something is wrong there.

Great, I get to start the year when budget cuts start affecting the very quality of the professors… -__-

Really, no Teo Ruiz, no guaranteed A? Who do they think they are???

Oh thank god I only have to put up with 1 year of this bs. To all the incoming freshmen, I say, FYL.

does anyone know why teo isnt teaching?
or have any recommendations on what to take for fall 2011? For history or other classes?

they fired a few North Campus lecturers because of budget cuts.

I was thinking the same thing! History major here. I was hoping for a another class with Gelvin and Corey. Gelvin’s classes are tough, but you learn so much.

They did add a few courses. Has anyone had a class with Yirush or Aron?

Unfortunately it’s the budget cuts hitting the UC’s. Some profs have been fired and some have left for more pay at other private schools. Sad, but this is only the beginning.
