Quick question. So I filled out my schedule online about a month ago, requesting classes for this semester, etc. I was under the impression that I'd be sent an email containing my schedule within a week, but still haven't received it. When I called the registrar's office, they informed me that I receive it at orientation, but that doesn't seem right. Anyone here get their classes via email, or does everyone pick it up at orientation?

what major are you?

I picked it up last yera.

If you are just entering this year, that’s correct. You fill out an “online” schedule that is just sent to your advisor. Some advisors then go through them early (a few weeks before orientation) and sign you up for classes, and then at orientation you just sort of discuss other issues. If the advisor is busy though, then that preliminary list just sits there until you go to orientation. Then you’ll sit down with your advisor and pick which classes are best for you. Some majors require you to take very specific classes your first year, and if your major isn’t like that then your advisor might help you pick out electives.

That form was just your preferences. You won’t actually be put in classes until your advisor does it for you. For some, that might be a little bit before orientation, but for most it will be at orientation. Then you’ll see your fall schedule on myneu. You are never sent an email saying what your classes are, unless your advisor happens to send one out as part of their orientation process.

That form didn’t even matter (at least for me). At orientation I got a basic schedule containing the classes required for my major the first day, and I sat down with my advisor to sign up for my core class on the second. The online pre-orientation thing was pretty useless for me because I only had to pick out a social science class.

oh great! at least I don’t have to worry anymore now. Thanks for the responses guys, can’t wait to see what classes I get.

If you get an 8am, contact your advisor ASAP
8am is the worst thing that can happen to you in college.
-Not a morning person

8am really isn’t so bad. Even if you get VERY little sleep, I’ve found that I can generally handle an 8am course- I actually only have problems if I have a 9:15 course, at which point I’m DEAD tired. Again, this can differ between people. Best advice is to just get enough sleep for your schedule.
