schedule problems!

So I was retarded and signed up for Rhetoric R1B cause I thought I would get at leastt 4 on the AP Lit test but didn't. Now Rhetoric R1A is all filled and so are many of the R1A classes. Would it be okay if I took the second half of the R+C requirement first? CalSO people told me you dont have to take Rhetoric R1A to take R1B. If not is it soo bad that I did my R+C requirement my second and third semester?

Also, ALL THE MAth classes are full! I'm like waitlisted 49th for Math 16A and it's weird cause for the discussion there's a waitlist but no one is enrolled. But there are still like 25 available seats and I'm 7th on the waitlist. Does that mean the discussion hasn't opened yet?

you have to take r1a before r1b...they're sequential. your calso counselor was right, but to clarify what he/she said, you don't have to take RHETORIC r1a specifically to take RHETORIC r1b...but you still have to take an r1a; it just doesn't have to be rhetoric. it's not horrible if you don't start in your first semester...they just want you to finish it as soon as possible. they don't want you taking these classes in your senior year...especially since you might need the writing skills you learn in those classes for other classes.

as for your math class, the schedule of classes updates over the weekend...so there might be some weird thing going on with the system there. it might change over the weekend. but don't worry about being on the waitlist...the math department is good at finding spots for everyone. just make sure you go to the first class because one of the first things the instructor talks about is how to get into the class if you're on the waitlist.
