So, I'm just planning out a few courses for next year and reading up on departmental reqs. Gotta a few questions I couldn't find in the announcement.

1) I'm planning on doing a certificate. If there is one class that counts as a departmental for my major and an approved course for my certificate, does it knock off 2 birds with one stone? Or would it only count once and I would have to pick another course to fulfill that?

2) I thinking of majoring in mol bio, and it requires 4 specific classes plus 4 other departmentals. orgo is one of the requirements suggested to be taken before junior year. At the same time, orgo is also a departmental. So if I take CHM 303 and 304 my soph year, they count as two of the 4 other departmentals and I would only have to take 2 more departmentals(+ 4 specific classes) for a mol bio major? (whew)

3) Finally, a very rough version of my schedule for freshmen year.
Fall:
PHY 101
ECO 101
MAT 201
Writing

Spring:
MOL 214
PHY 102
ECO 100
FRS ???

I'm not a big physics person. I could take 103/104 b/c of AP credit. Is it worth it? Also, is that too much quantitative classes first sem? I guess I could switch MAT 201 to spring and add a FRS to fall. That way, I could take 2 FRS. I've heard some of those courses are really worth it.

Finally, language. I fulfilled my req (5 in Spanish), but I would like to take courses in another language I'm fairly good at but have not studied at school. Would I still need to take the placement exam for that lang this summer?

Sorry this is super long. Thanks in advance!
