Schedule Question- I would really appreciate advice

Next year (junior year) I am trying to decide between taking AP physics 1 blended (meaning half of the course is completed online and half at school) vs honors spanish IV.

My other classes are:
AP Bio
Study center
AP Calc BC
AP English 11
AP Computer Science
CP US history

I am equally interested in Spanish and physics because I want to be an engineer but also have an interest in Spanish (I love learning about the culture). AP physics is a more strenuous class at my school than honors spanish IV (which has a reputation for being a fun, relaxed class).

Would adding AP physics make my course load too strenuous? Would it be advantageous for me to take spanish because colleges prefer 4 years of a language?

Thank you SO MUCH in advance for your honest opinion and the time you took to answer this question!!!!

It looks like a tough schedule already, and you already have AP Bio there so a lack of Science wouldn’t look like an issue. Also depends on what science you want to take next year, If you get over with Spanish IV this year it opens an extra period for you next year. AP Physics wasn’t too bad for me last year, but that was considering my teacher didn’t give a lot of homework and I only had 1 other AP class. Spanish wouldn’t look to bad on a schedule at all. Can you take AP Physics next year?

Yeah, my plan if I didn’t take AP physics this year would be to take AP Physics 1 AND 2 blended next year (which is offered as a two credit class). I also thought about taking AP Environmental senior year with that (or maybe self-studying it).

have you taken a physics class yet? that’s a must for college admissions. However, you can take it senior year if you haven’t. I’d recommend finishing off the four year spanish sequence this year.

Thanks for the advice everyone!!! I think I am leaning towards taking Honors Spanish IV. I have a lot of extracurriculars this year so I think Spanish will balance my schedule nicely.

You will want to have taken Physics by when you graduate, 1 or 2.

The thing is with Physics 1, is that it is algebra-based. All college engineering is calculus-based. It’ll be a good introduction to physics, but not necessarily to engineering. AP Calc BC will be good practice for the engineering calc you’ll encounter at university. Nevertheless, Physics 1 will probably be a better option for senior year.

I’d recommend Spanish 4 this year. It can be a little tedious to skip a year of a foreign language since you forget it so easy when you’re not using it. For STEM majors, try to have taken 1 year of each main science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, honors/AP preferably), and the highest available math class. 4 years of a language is recommended at most selective universities. You’re on a good track.
