It says that two of my classes are taught by "STAFF." Does this mean no one has yet been assigned to teach these classes I am signed up for? Is there any way to find out who teaches them?
Also, really important, is ISIS the only way you can check to get the professor you want, or is there another way to do this in case no spot in the desired professor's class becomes available?

try <a href="http://www.registrar.ufl.edu/soc/200608/all/%5B/url%5D">http://www.registrar.ufl.edu/soc/200608/all/</a></p>

just choose the department u want and u should see who is teaching which section

Right now we are close enough to the start date that you could call the department and they will know who's teaching that section. I think staff might mean TAs, but that's just been in my own experience and I'm not sure if this is always true.

Are TA's generally better/worse than professors at teaching?

I've had a lot of TAs that I thought were very very good teachers. Because they were students as well, they were able to advise on great teachers to take, career paths, and they understood more about time constraints than older professors would. I also had one TA that NEVER taught. He was supposed to lead a discussion session, but instead he would come to class, ask if anyone had questions and then leave!!! We were so lost that we didn't even know the right questions to ask... Some TAs are working on their thesis and have little time for and shouldn't be teaching, but overall they're great!
I think that (for me) the quality of the teacher depends on the class size and years of teaching. Most of my TAs have small classes and most of the undergrad professors have larger impersonal classes. Also, some of these TAs have been teaching for years...
