Schedule suggestion for Kelley DA hoping to get into Kelley Honors and IBW

Hello, everyone. I’m a DA to Kelley and I want to get into Kelley honors and eventually the investment banking workshop. I’m coming in with credits for Micro and English W131. I also may have credits for Math M119 and Macroeconomics depending on my AP Scores. What is the best schedule for me that will protect my GPA?

Are you in Hutton? If so, definitely take C106 and K204 freshman year, as the honors versions of these classes are very easy to do well in. I would also take K201 or K204 first semester so you can take K303 second semester. K303 is the easiest I-Core prereq in my opinion.

You will need to take all classes from this list before junior year, so mostly fill your schedule with them: http://bulletins.iu.edu/iub/kelley-ugrad/2013-2014/program-details/course-degree-req/i-core-prereq.shtml

In addition, find a couple of gen ed classes that double count for WC and A&H credit, and one that counts for natural science. http://bulletins.iu.edu/iub/general-education/2016-2017/requirements/index.shtml

I would take 1 class each semester that double counts, and one natural science class whichever semester it fit better.

Use ratemyprofessors.com and http://gradedistribution.registrar.indiana.edu/ to help choose classes as well. It’s usually easier if you post a schedule on here and request feedback rather than having other people make one for you because only you know your interests/strengths/weaknesses. You should have all the tools now and I’d be happy to give you feedback on a sample schedule or answer any questions.

@iubaccounting wouldn’t it be more beneficial to not fill my schedule with those kelley classes in order to protect my freshman gpa? Also I’m not in Hutton

Try to avoid the hardest Kelley classes freshman year, but you don’t want to get behind. Most of the classes aren’t too bad as long as you stay on top of the work, go to class, and study for exams. You should be fine with all/almost all Kelley classes outside of gen eds. It wouldn’t look good for Kelley honors if you tried to avoid business classes.
