Schedule!

Hey everyone! So I will be a junior next year and here is my schedule:

1) AP Biology
2) AP Language and Composition
3) AP Chinese
4) US History
5) Pre-Calculus Honors
6) Journalism

I was wondering how I can prepare for these classes during the summer, especially AP Biology. Any tips and advices are welcome! Thank you very much.

To be honest there’s no preparation needed. You’re about to take a class that will prepare you for it’s exam. For Biology just make sure you know the basics that you learned in your regular biology class. Chinese, know Chinese that you’ve been taught the past years.

I have a copy of the AP Biology textbook that they’ll be using next year. I’m thinking it would help a lot if I skimmed through it but I don’t know if I’ll understand it without any outside aid.

The summer work should help as well. Dunno if the summer coursework is the same across the nation (I don’t think it is, since we start in September, the teacher noted that she had less time in-class hence the assignment), but the AP Bio summer work this year is a topic-by-topic rehash of everything that was covered in the highest level biology, as well as some other prep work. I imagine your assignment is similar, and it should be enough. If not, textbook review.

Thanks for reply! Lucky for us we don’t have any summer work. So I’ll definitely be reviewing the textbook. Are there any other resources online or books that can help aid my studies?

^ AP prep books would be your best bet, or googling a subject when it comes up and you don’t fully understand.

I would say cover some basic Bio first! Khanacademy.com does that if you don’t want to spend money right now. My AP Bio teacher is making us cover the chapter on Ecology for the summer and prep a lab so we can get it out of the way since some of us leave school in May. If you have your pre-calc book already and have a friend who took it before, ask them what chapters they did and then you can go on the same website as before and learn some of the beginning stuff. Just to put yourself ahead.

English is english. I didn’t study for my AP exam at all except for some Lit. terms but, I don’t think that’ll be a major point on Eng. Lang. Just read some difficult books or classics over the summer and you’ll be fine. I just finished US History and there’s nothing you need to prepare for. Just go through it and you’ll be fine and remember your Chinese from before. Maybe go over some grammar and learn some new words so you won’t forget everything!

I would suggest taking about a 2 week break before doing anything serious though if you just got out of school. By the time you start school again you’ll want to be done with it already and if you take a break you’ll retain a little more. Enjoy summer a little bit!
Good Luck!
