Schedule

Guidance finally worked out my Schedule, how does it look (junior year)?
Also yes, I will be trying to get some EC's on my plate also.

Alg 2
AP US
AP Euro
AP Psych
Chem
English 3
Study Hall (Going to use as a self study for comparative politics)
Study Hall (Legit Study Hall OR Self Study [tbd])

Eeek. Euro+US=NotFun.

Three AP social sciences will be a LOT of note taking.

What about my plans for the study halls, what should I do with those suckers?

Choose between AP Euro and AP US, taking both is unnecessary and way too much reading/notetaking.
Algebra2: are you in regular (vs. Honors) because your current teacher thinks you won’t be able to handle the Honors version? If you’re sure you can get a B or more, take the Honors version.
Same thing for Chem and/or English. As a Junior, you could be taking AP English Language if it’s offered.
You should have one foreign language: most selective universities expect 3 years of one foreign language (or level 3 or AP score or high SAT subject score) and all Top 50 universities/LACs would expect either 4 years/Level4 or AP (class and exam).
Don’t have two periods appear as study halls on your schedule. Since one would be used to self study a subject, have it appear as “independent study” on your schedule. Having 2 study halls looks like you’re too lazy to look for an interesting class. One can be forgiven if mandatory or if you’re a senior taking late arrival/early release or if you’re using it for an internship, to TA for a teacher, or work, but two study halls junior year would not be a good idea.

I’m keeping both histories because history is my strong point end of story. I’m going to stick with regular for the rest because I fear I won’t be able to get a B or more with Honors Algebra 2, Honors Chem (Somehow I did okay this year with Biology but I suppose that could just be the teacher or the fact that I have a friend that is good with the subject), or AP English. I for some reason can’t fit a language into my schedule so their goes that though I suppose I could try to do it online. Lastly, I just sent an email to my council asking if I could use one of my study hall’s as a self study, no reply yet but once I do get a reply, I will ask to see if I can mark it as an “independent study” on my schedule. Thanks

It is probably not competitive if you’re looking at the top colleges. Middle-range will be okay with it, especially if you’re not looking into STEM.

I’m not looking into STEM and what are we considering “Middle-Range”?

On a side note, What should come first AP Comp or AP US Politics or should I just knock out both in one year and have “no studyhalls” in a sense?

I think it’s a good schedule if you’re not planning for anything in STEM or business. Though I would say it’s not competitive for top schools (USNWR Top 50 Universities or LACs) because there’s no foreign language, no APs or Honors in subjects beside Social Studies, and two free periods in your schedule could raise suspicion on your overall workload. You’re good for in-state publics though, plus some small LACs if that’s what you’re interested in.

Whats a LAC? Also look at what I am planning for study halls?

LAC is a Liberal Arts College

What should I change in my schedule if I plan on going for lets say UCONN, one of the UC’s, Georgetown, or NYU?

For schools that competitive4y fl +all honor/AP

What sort of schools (give names) am I looking at with my current schedule?

Qquinipiac
S uny new paltz ( honors?) Marist Hofstra ccny …

Ohh their not bad
