Schedule...

I was accepted the prep school that I applied to and I'm in the process of choosing my classes for next year.

English I
French II
Geometry Honors
World History I: Ancient and Medieval History
Concert Band
Intro to Biology
Latin I

I will be self studying French I so I could start French II in the fall and I am thinking of self studying Latin I as well. My dad is fluent in French so he could help me with it, but I wouldn't be able to get any help with Latin. Is Latin I really hard to study on your own? Should I wait to skip Latin II?

What do you guys think of my schedule?

Good, round schedule. Niice.

It's ballin'. You're gonna s|\/|0k3 dem n00bz.

Thanks .

I say take latin 1 freshmen year and self study latin 2 which is probably "not as important"

In my experience, it's pretty hard to self-study a language, even with motivation. My junior year of high school, I attempted to study French II on my own, although with my teacher's guidance. It didn't really work out, because I wasn't really motivated (I decided the next year just to stick with Spanish V). And self-studying two languages...

But then again, you could be much more motivated than I am.

Otherwise, awesome schedule. World history is always interesting (now that actually is something you can self-study... history, I mean). And band! Yay music! :)

ETA: Basically, the difficult thing about learning a language on your own is that you can't really practice it. In a classroom environment, you have to speak it at times, but at home, you don't really have someone to talk to in that language (French, yes, but not Latin).

Latin I is easy to self-study if you have some background in some related languages. I.E taking spanish the year before and THEN starting to learn Latin I. I guess if you start French first then Latin will be easy for you.

Ya, Latin should be really easy if you have former experience with linguistics (especially French or Spanish). But if your not really self-motivated, it'd probably be best to stick to Latin I.
