Is 19 units fall quarter at UCI crazy for an "average" student at a competitive high school who took AP English, AP Chem, and AP Bio and did well in the class and on the AP tests?

is this a doable schedule? i have spop next week, and i want a good idea of the do-ability of classes before i leave. looking at the list, it looks overwhelming.. and lots of reading...

History 40A (4).
Humanities 1A (8)
Latin 1A (5-5-5)
Political Science 21A (4)

i wish i could take Math2B or Music25A, so i don't know which classes i want to take. :(

As a freshman, you may not be prepared to handle a big load, but that's subjective. Being an average student at a competitive high school with a history of multiple AP courses doesn't really tell you if you'll be able to or not. It all depends on how you are with time and responsibilities. I definitely support that schedule since it'll give you a challenge and keep you busy, but things may happen that will deter you from your studies. Make sure you stay focused all the time if you want to take that schedule on. That is, of course, if you want good grades...

well, i'll be living at home..so hopefully not many distractions unless my parents cause them...and....i'm also not CHP..but thanks for all of your input...guess i"ll stick to it...

uh how do you guys know what classes to take? Is there a list somewhere?
please direct me to it so i won't be totally confuse when i have to choose them. thank a bunch

Btw, is this a normal schedule for a college student? Why is there no room for elective? It already suonds boring. Is everybody with same major basically gonna have the same schedule?

sweetdream: it all depends on your major on whether you can even fit an elective, most impacted majors such as any engineering won't leave you that much breathing room. For maximaboy, he has the typical honors Bio Sci major courseload, with Humcore as his elective of sorts. ShoeFactory has the slightly advanced BME schedule for freshmen, where electives are not a likely early on. It all depends on the major.

The above link is the general catalogue for UCI. It is best to look at the degrees under your department, as they often give sample schedules for that degree, so as to give you an idea what classes you will take.

gohansdemise: Problem is, you don't have physics on there, though you should. You need 7A and 7LA, and they engineering department will frown on you if you go without it. Try moving writing 39a to winter quarter, since you won't have BME classes anymore.
