schedule

I got my first semester schedule, and I wondered if anybody had any insight. I don't really like how it's set up, but maybe you guys know something I don't...
is having both my labs on thursday a good thing?

MWF I have Pre Calc at 9, Bio at 10, and Chem at 11, and English at 1.
Tuesday I have Precalc at 9 (woo hoo, one class that day!)
Thursday I have both my chem and bio lab (from 8 to 10:30, and noon to 2:30)

That's a pretty good schedule, as long as you don't mind getting up for the 9ams four days a week (which isn't bad at all). It's nice that you get a break from lunch inbetween chem and english, and the one class on tuesday you'll love, and two labs in one day arn't bad as long as they arn't back to back. Most people like labs because you're not just sitting around in class but you're actually doing stuff and thinking on your own.

Actually looks like a great schedule. I'd personally hate to have two labs in one day but since they're your only two classes it won't be that bad. I'll still play the devils advocate and suggest you move one to Tuesday so your lab reports are a bit more staggared through the week, but like I said it's a great schedule either way. Also, you COULD look into moving one of your MWF classes onto a Tues/Thurs, but it's just personal preferance.

It doesn't look bad as long as you make use of your time on tuesdays. It might be stressful come midterms when you have a ton of assignments coming up back to back for your MWF classes, but you can't avoid that no matter how you set up your schedule. Just manage your time well and it should be fine :)

alright. thanks for the responses.
My school is REALLY picky about rescheduling classes (they practically complained about how the previous class was about it), so i don't think i'll switch it around, just so i'll stay on good terms with the admin.

again, thanks.

Yeah, I actually had my schedule set up similarly for a semester last year (three days with a lot of classes, two with one or two) and it worked out fine, I just prefer having everything spread out a bit more. Of course, this year I get the joy of four classes three days a week (including a back to back to back) three classes one day and two the other. And only getting out before 5:30 one day a week (friday.) Ah, the joys of a major with only about 25 students in it...

chuy> how many credits are you taking this semster?

I agree that you might consider moving one of the MWF classes to TTh. If you end up with multiple tests and papers due on the same day, it'll be miserable. And have you looked into what you finals schedule will be like? When we get the schedule guide for class registeration, it has the exam schedule based on day and time that the class normally meets. No, you won't have overlapping exams, but you may have more than one exam on th same day. And if it's two classes that require more studying...ugh! You'll wonder why you ever wanted to go to college, it'll be that bad.

18 or 19, I can't remember. Sadly our labs don't count for a credit (they're rolled in with whatever class they're a lab for) and neither do recitations, which bump up the number of individual classes I'm taking a week quite a bit.

Yup, I have 3 back to back MWF, then a lab on M and another class MW, a class, lab, and discussion on T, nothing extra wednesday over the 4 classes, a class and lab thursday, and 3 classes F == 16 credits

Engineering sucks.

"Engineering sucks."

Agreed. ESPECIALLY when classes are only offered once a year. 0 flexibility on scheduling. Ah well.
