Scheduling an Interview?

Is it just me or does the Johns Hopkins University Office of Undergraduate Admissions - On-Campus Visits - Admissions Interviews form not let me schedule a time (even after I've input every field?)

I’m guessing it’s because all of the spaces are taken already? That would be my guess.

If you don’t get an interview, don’t worry about it. I didn’t interview nor did I try to get one. Admitted RD a few years ago.

Actually, I would guess it’s a programming bug that’s not letting you advance to January 2011. Call the admissions office to schedule an interview and email the person listed on [this page](http://apply.jhu.edu/contact/contact.html) for “Send feedback about this site” as he’s the person who can likely fix the issue

According to their site:

Seniors applying Early Decision: Interviews are available in the fall; the opportunity to interview has concluded for the 2010-2011 application cycle.

Seniors applying Regular Decision: Interviews are held in February; the request form is available now.

It doesn’t appear that interviews are available in January for RD applicants. Tanman is right though - you can call to see what’s up.

The spots aren’t taken up - I moved forward to the months of March and April and even May and they wouldn’t let me click a date (just checking). I highly doubt they would be booked for that many days.

I am thinking it’s a programming error. Thanks for the help!

Hmm after some further looking, they might actually be filled up. I didn’t realize earlier that they don’t enable the calendar until you pick a graduation year. If you pick a year that makes you a high school junior, then you’re able to pick dates in March and April, but no dates appear to be available for high school seniors and recent graduates. I would call the office to confirm/see if they can fit you in.

believe it or not, people will CANCEL their appointment & a spot will open up.
happens before.Reasons: students who have made appt got accepted elsewhere or they got the flu / sick / parents car broke down/ can’t make the travel plan etc etc.
so I suggest keep checking & w/ luck, an appointment spot will open up.

You might want to consider requesting an alumni interview. On campus interviews are with student volunteers, not admissions officers. Alumni interviewers are more mature (or at least older:) ),have often done interviews for years and often are well known to the admissions office, and they usually do far fewer interviews than on-campus student interviewers which means that they probably spend more time filling out the interview evaluation. Certainly, there is no downside to an alumni interview compared to an on-campus one.

Interviews are not required and because not everyone can be accomodated with an interview, they are not a critical piece of the admissions packet. That said, they pretty much can only help. At they very least, asking for an interview demonstrates a certain seriousness of interest.

I called the Admissions dept today and the person there said that you cannot yet schedule for an RD on-campus interview yet even though the online form is there.
You can always sign up for an off-campus alumni interview at any time. This is probably the better path to take anyway.

I scheduled my interview like a month ago and I visited on the 8th for more info and they thought I wanted to schedule one then and said interview slots were filled sorry but good luck!
