Scheduling/class difficulty

So I have 5 AP classes (including AP chemistry & AP physics), pre-AP Pre-Cal BC, and basketball on my schedule for next year. I am currently a sophomore who makes A’s & B’s in 5 pre-AP classes and is on the Basketball team. Is my schedule for next year setting myself up for failure…everyone seems to think so & I just wanted one more opinion.

It depends on the AP classes. Chen and physics at the same time can be difficult, but if you are diligent you should be fine. Especially if you are taking pre calf and not calc.

I am not sure if having two AP sciences in one year is a good idea. I am sure you will be successful if you do decide to take both but just be aware of the amount of homework/classwork you are gonna have to do. It’s a lot.

what is pre-AP pre-calc BC?

You could do fine in these classes, but if you’re worried that you’d get Bs or Cs in your AP classes or get worn out, is there an honors/pre-AP version of the classes you’ll be taking? Also, have you taken the honors/pre-AP versions of chemistry and physics? Jumping from pre-AP to AP in 5 classes might be a bit much to be honest.

However I DON’T think you’re setting yourself up for failure. The fact that you’re currently in 5 advanced classes and are planning to take 5 AP classes proves that you’re hard-working and determined, which are very beneficial traits that can also help you in these classes.

AP physics 1?

Yes it’s AP physics 1
I am currently taking Pre-AP chemistry
There is a pre-AP physics but I don’t know if it will prepare me for the test… I would only really be taking physics to prepare for the AP test

Physics and chemistry don’t go together.

Physics and Chem can go together. Its hard though.

AP Physics 1 and AP Chemistry are difficult but possible. (AP Physics C and AP Chem aren’t).

@MYOS1634 The word possible isn’t very subjective. Of course its possible to take physics C and AP Chem together (I’m doing the equivalent but duel enrolled) Is it hard? Absolutely, but I’d rather do homework from those two classes than read my history book, even though history is supposedly an “easier” class.
However, considering the OP is only in precalc, he can’t really take Physics C anyway so its a moot point.

OP, what classes are you getting B’s in? If STEM classes, I would recommend dropping a science. If its the humanities, I would drop a humanities AP (perhaps down to an honors or regular).

I’m getting a b in AP World History
