Scheduling Conflict

Hey everyone, originally my schedule looked like this:
-AP Gov
-AP Stats
-AP Bio
-AP English Lit
-French IV
-Physics

Scheduling conflict messes things up. AP Gov and French conflict, so I think I'll take Gov there, but also, Bio is offered in place of either AP English or AP Stats. I also have the option of adding AP Physics which wouldn't conflict with anything. Applying to Cornell and Columbia as an economics major in the fall. Help please!!

Take enough so that your counselor will check off “most rigorous” on your application. Other than that, take what you want pretty much.

You may want to take Stats if you’re going to be an economics major. Have you taken AP Micro/Macro?

If AP Bio at your highschool is anything like mine, it is INTENSE. A lot of work. I don’t say this to discourage you, but, consider prioritizing those subjects that roughly correspond to your major.

That said, I see you’re applying to top-notch schools, and completely understand why you want to load up. I did the same thing (but it was incredibly stressful).

Ap Govt (in my case) was not much, work wise. And I really enjoyed it.
AP Lit was unique for me because of the specific teacher I had who did things much to his own liking so, I won’t use it to judge your AP Lit because it may be very different.

I took AP stats for about a month and then dropped it because I was overloaded senior year (I had 5 other AP classes) and given that I had already taken AP Calc AB and BC junior year, I had already gone up to the highest level math my school offered. Taking Stats (in my case) was much like taking an elective, as opposed to a core class. But Stats was not hard -just a very “different” kind of math than what we’re used to. Not the algebraic based math you’ve seen all these years.

I don’t know if your school offers AP Econ, but if it does I suggest taking this:
Govt, Econ (Micro), and Stats as “for sure” classes.

Whatever you do, do not take BOTH AP Bio and AP Physics. Do not do it.

Last year I took APUSH, AP Chem, and AP Calc AB. Would it really be so much more difficult to take AP Bio and AP Physics along with Stats and Gov?
