Scheduling Decisions?

For my upcoming senior year I plan on taking AP Art History, AP Spanish, AP Stat, Expository Reading and Writing, AP Gov, and Art of Film. I voiced some concern to my counselor about not having a science class, as well as not taking AP Calculus AB over AP Stat, however, I was told this wouldn't be much of an issue. How important is it to have AP Calc over AP Stat and a science class when applying to colleges?

What colleges are you applying to?

Depends on your major. Majoring in creative writing? Won’t need calc. Majoring in engineering? Should take calc and a science.

But if you want to get into very selective colleges, it’s recommended that you take calculus regardless.

I’m looking at UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, Gonzaga, Whitman, SDSU, and some other CSU schools. Haven’t really looked into higher tier schools yet. I’ve also decided to take AP English Language so I’ll be taking at least 5 AP classes next year. I’m confident I could get at least close to all A’s in all these classes if I don’t take Calc, however, since colleges won’t be seeing my 1st semester of senior year GPA by application time I’m guessing I shouldn’t be too concerned about this.

For my major, I’d like to do something related to writing/English but I’d like to take some classes involving computer science or engineering- possibly as a minor. I’m not too sure yet.
