Scheduling Dilemma ~ Advice?

OK so I went into school today to check on my upcoming senior year schedule and I discovered that I have a pretty tough scheduling decision to make. For starters, here is my tentative schedule:

AP Psychology
AP Statistics
AP Chemistry
-Honors Chemistry (required, 2nd period of AP Chem)
AP European History
AP Literature
Chamber Orchestra

This schedule is fine except for one thing: no math, my favorite and best subject. I have already taken AB Calc, and would have liked to take BC Calc this upcoming year but it doesn't fit well into my schedule. If I did choose to take BC Calc (which is two periods long like Chem) it would take the place of both AP Psych and AP Stat, both of which I would sacrifice for Calculus. The alternative would look something like this:

AP Calculus BC
- Honors Calculus
AP Chemistry
-Honors Chemistry
AP European History
AP Literature
Chamber Orchestra

This schedule would also be fine (mostly bec/ Calculus rocks and I think Psych is BS and Stat sounds way boring), and I would probably prefer it.

Here's the catch: Because of the way my school calculates GPAs, If I go with schedule #1 then I will graduate with the all-time record GPA at my school (previously held by a real ditz; everyone will be happy to see her record broken). If I go with schedule #2, I won't.

So would you choose the record high GPA or the slightly easier schedule with the class you knew you would enjoy more?

You know you'll go with the 2nd, and you should. Don't worry about the GPA; colleges won't care much whether you set a record or not, and it's better to have classes that you'll enjoy, do well in, and would contribute to your study in college (which I assume will be math or science related, since you love math).

Go with the second one. No one cares about what your accomplishments in HS were once you graduate.

Agreed, go with the second one. What happens if you go with the first and get a B? Then it will all have been for nothing.

Good luck =].

I too, say go with the 2nd one. You like it, and it's already 4 Ap's...geez.

As for the AP psych/Stats, try self-study (if you want) or some other way to take it (although I think 4 AP's is good enough...).

Go with the 2nd. Honestly, do what you love adn you'll be good at. why waste your time?

By "everyone" you mean you and your parents, right? Because, really, I can't imagine many people actually giving a flip about that.

lol, agree with RacinReaver

Haha, thanks for all the replies. I suppose I am leaning towards the second option, simply because I like the class. Actually my parents could care less about the whole GPA record, they've pretty much stayed in the background my entire academic career. I guess they never really felt the need to push me when I already do it on my own. (plus I'm not asian, so I don't have crazy ethnic standards to live up to =P, jk). It just feels like I might as well go for the gold since I am SO close. Is that a little bit ridiculous?

Also, I am somewhat worried about being bored in BC Calc, only because I've already taken AB. AB covers the first 7 chapters in the book (the one I've already done), and BC is two periods the entire year and only covers a few extra chapters. Has anyone else taken both? Were you bored out of your mind 3/4 of the year?

Then why don't you self-study for Calc BC, then you could go with your first schedule.

yeah no one cares about rankings or who set the record GPA when you get out of high school. Do classes you will actually enjoy and get something out of. Do Option 2!
