Scheduling Dilemma-Block Scheduling or Not?

My schedule as I currently have it is classes on 3 days of the week and completely free on both Monday and Wednesday.

On Tuesday and Thursday, I have classes from 9:30am to 2:50 with no breaks in between(just the way I like it--less wasted time)

On Friday, I have classes from 8am to 1:50 with an hour gap in between.

Now, I started thinking the other day about the pros and cons of having "break" days. They could give me time to catch up on my studying or assignments. But on the other hand, they could completely go to waste (seeing what's happened this semester) since I won't be needing to even bother getting up in the morning.

I'm interested in seeing what you guys prefer when putting together your schedules.

Most of the people I know like to spread out their classes as much as they can (as long as it doesn’t involve taking early morning classes ofc). It can get kinda monotonous having nothing to do all day.

My first semester I thought I would want all my classes spread out, so it would force me to use my time in between classes to study. Doesn’t work for me. I utilize maybe a half of the time I have in between classes. I am now trying to schedule everything with as little gap as possible, except for if I have a very long day, I might like an hour in between classes.

I do try to schedule things as early as possible because that forces me to get up and get the day started and start getting things done. For some it just encourages them to skip school, so I can see that way too.

Last fall, I set up my classes so they were all on MWF. It’s really convenient.
REALLY CONVENIENT.

If you can handle a long day, I’d do it.

Then again, I wouldn’t mind condensing all my classes so I have a personal bias. (How about meeting 1x per week per class for 150 min? eh?)

Edit: Yeah, I guess I"ll point out that the occasional harmless skipping usually meant a lot of makeup studying because skipping one day = 4 classes missed

Edit2: Ideally, actually, I’d go for 1x per month per class for 10 hours

^I have a 150 minute class (or well, I guess 140 minutes), and it sucks. My 3 hour lab last semester was just as bad. We usually get a 5-10 minute break in the middle, but it still feels really long. I can deal with back to back to back to back, but the subject has to change each time.

Im a noob. Can someone tell me how college scheduling works per credit hour again?

Most of my friends like to split up their classes like 3/2 or 2/3 between MWF and TR. Personally, a lot of the classes that I have to take are only offered MWF, so I just schedule them 4 in a row, with my labs and recitations on TR. I like it so I just get through all of my classes quickly. I only had a 9:35-11 and 4-5 class on Tuesdays, and a 2-4:30 lab on Thursdays. It was nice, because I’m up on Tuesdays so I might as well do work (or at least something productive, like clean or laundry), and Thursdays were kind of my recovery day, or a chance to catch up on work that I hadn’t done yet.

Next semester, I’m taking 3 lectures on MWF, 2 on TR, and my lab on Thursday afternoon… I’m interested to see how it’s different.

I like taking classes M-T. And I like to have somewhat early class (like 9, but I prefer 10AM) And I also love 2 hour gaps because gaps help me focus to get my homework done, whereas if I have hours to do homework after classes, I will procrastinate more or be less able to focus.
