Ok so I’m taking 2 AP’s APES and APUSH plus 3 honor classes Algebra II, Chemistry and French which is not big deal and regular junior English… I’m scared because people says that APUSH is a monster that will not let you sleep and APES is actually not that easy and I need chemistry before taking it … How many hours of homework will you expect every night? I know that it depends but I want an average, Thank you!
APES is considered the easiest AP class in my school.
APUSH is definitely not easy, especially if you’re teacher doesn’t know how to prepare you for the AP test, but it is doable. There’s a whole lot of reading and memorization involved though and the wording can trip you up.
It really depends on the rigor within your school. Therefore, I recommend you talk to students who have taken, or are taking, the course.
I’m my experience with APUSH, you get out what you put in. I have a great teacher (majority of kids pass with 4+ in her class), and she rarely assigns homework, with the exception of dbqs on weekends every now and then. It’s up to us to do the reading at home, and that is primarily where the heavy workload comes in. If you read the text and study your AP cards, the class will be doable and even fun; if not, it’ll be tough and strenuous. Also I think you have to have an interest in history. I love history, so for me it isn’t as much work as it is genuinely interesting. Some of my friends however, lack a love of history and although they keep a high grade, struggle with the reading and material. Hope this helps and good luck. Vince
APUSH is hard but with the rest of your schedule it should be doable if you’re a good reader. (If you’re not a good reader, you have six months to start building speed - think of it as preparing for the marathon.)
APES on the other hand is rather easy in terms of science.
APUSH is hard but it’s the 2nd most popular AP after AP English Language; around 50% of all AP students have taken it.
Also, APES is by far the easiest science AP.
If you’re aiming for top schools, that junior year schedule is actually on the light side.
