Scheduling...Foreign Language?

So, class scheduling is taking place in the coming weeks, and I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice. Here's my dilemma:

I took Spanish I in eight grade, Spanish II freshman year, and I'm currently taking H. Spanish III this year, as a sophomore. As a junior, I'll be taking H. Spanish IV. I know this is thinking a bit ahead, but:

I was wondering if I should take AP Spanish senior year (AP Spanish is the only Spanish class my school offers after H. Spanish IV). I realize that it's important to take core classes for all four years, but I'm not sure that I would be up to the challenge of AP Spanish in addition to the two other AP classes I want to take senior year (I'm not as smart as many of my fellow CCers who'll be graduating with 10+ AP's under their belt - I'll probably end up having either 3 or 4). Also, by senior year I would technically have taken four years of a foreign language, it's just that one of those years was in eight grade...

Again, I realize that it may be a little early to worry about picking senior year classes, but this decision has an affect on the classes I pick for next year, since I'm trying to balance things out so I don't overwork myself either year. Thanks in advance for any input offered (:

After you’ve taken all of those foreign language classes, I’d consider it a waste to not take the AP test. If you didn’t want to do AP, then you should have stopped after 2 years of foreign language, IMO.

It’s always good to know a second language. You’ll know better next year whether or not you feel comfortable in a fifth year of Spanish. However, many schools and programs are requiring you to take a foreign language in college. Taking an AP test usually waives those requirements. Something to keep in mind.

romanigypsyeyes! :D

We have it from one admissions office that they do consider the 8th grade year as one of the years they suggest. So you will have at least “4” years in their opinion. But you should ask at the schools you are interested in to be sure.

Yes, China?

BMan22, you make a good point…As does romanigypsyeyes. I’ll take that into consideration.
