So I scheduled to take physics next year (im a sophomore) but I’m starting to rethink my decision. Seniors and juniors that I’ve talked to (that have also taken the class) have told me to not take it as the class is very hard because the teacher is pretty bad (there’s only one physics teacher). I’ve also heard stories of the teacher giving out random grades that just drop people’s grades for no reason.
Is it worth the risk or should I switch to another science class?
Funny, seems like most folks on here said their physics teacher is pretty bad. You should get physics in though! Have you taken Bio and Chem already? Is there another teacher? There are things you can do if you get a bad teacher. You can use videos from Khan Academy, buy a Physics study book maybe even get a tutor. You are going to run into more than one bad teacher throughout life, it’s a good time to develop some self study skills!
Have you taken biology and chemistry? If not can you take one of those next year and physics your senior year? Most colleges want to see chemistry, biology, and physics- even if you don’t want to major in STEM. Get a tutor outside of school. You will face this problem in college as well. You don’t always get what you want.
Another option is meeting and talking with the teacher now. Often, rumors about teachers get exaggerated. The teacher probably has a reason for “randomly” dropping grades.
