scheduling interview? helppp!

Carnegie Mellon wants all interviews done by Feb. 1st so that means I only have fifteen days or so to schedule one AND meet up w/ the alumni..

is fifteen days enough to call, schedule and etc.? or does it seem like I'm a lazy kid who procrastinated? lol, I was debating on whether to interview or not because I want to show more interest but I'm not sure if I can pull of a great interview (it would be my first one.. )

so if I call the admissions office tomorrow morning and get the contact info of my interviewer, and then call her to schedule a meeting.. USUALLY are interviews scheduled within a couple of days?

also, do interviews have a huge effect, specifically how is it for cmu? I think I'll probably be in the maybe pile, and I want to bump this up w/ a good interview.. so any additional tips?

oh yeah. and when I call the interviewer.. I don't want to sound awkward, how would you start off the convo? just say "Hi my name is ____ and I wanted to see if you were available for a cmu interview" ??

I don’t know about CMU, but I scheduled my Mount Holyoke interview on the last day possible, and had my alumna interview that weekend. We communicated by email, so it was a tad less awkward than a phone call, but it wasn’t bad at all.

Just try and schedule it ASAP. =)

I know you are worried that a phone call might be awkward, but I would recommend calling because I have had a hard time contacting my interviewer for one of my college interviews by email, since I guess she doesn’t check it very often. Luckily, I’m not too pressed for time, but since you seem to be running out of time, I would call because I think it’s easier to get a quick response that way.
